Question about LS400 color: BGM
After a couple months of waffling back and forth, trying to decide what color to go with for my next LS400, I have come to a surprising conclusion. First off, I have gotten sage advice from many of you on these boards, so thank you for your input thus far.
After all is said and done, I have settled on the Burnished Gold Metallic (BGM). I initially liked the Imperial Jade Mica and can say it's a very classy color I could easily live with. In my research, I've found that the BGM is only available for one year on the 2000 Platinum Series.
Does anyone have a BGM LS400, and if so, can you comment on what you like about it. Based on a few scant posts, those of you who have BGM are very happy with it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to insult people's taste, but old man gold/beige is perhaps the worst color on these cars. Its so ugly and bland IMO, its not a real vibrant color like 1970's pimpmobile gold or 70's Trans Am Solar Gold . . .

It's a fine color. Nothing special and nothing too bland. It has the reputation of being an old persons color but it is one of the rarer exterior colors for the LS due to its platinum edition requirement. I have it. I like it just fine. That is before I was sideswiped.
If you like the color, get it. As the saying goes, "if you get out of your car and don't look back, you bought the wrong car." And I always look back at my LS.

From my perspective, I disagree with Aron9000. I personally like the entire paint selection for the LS 400s, but the gold/beige paint colors particularly look very fine and fit the car's luxury status and reputation well.
Yes, it's not necessarily the most "vibrant" of all available colors, but not everything has to be flashy to be good.
As RugbyDad said, go with the color that you like, kyk007.

I agree with Aron9000. The colors I dislike on any car are. Black (It shows all imperfections and soaks up all the suns heat), White (Though it is cool as far as sun soaking on it, there are way too many white LS's) Gold, Sandstone beige on gen 1's is a gold lookalike I think, Fire engine Red, (just glad the LS red is a nice dark shade its okay), other than those I pretty much like the other colors though a blue would be last choice.
Too bad Lexus didn't have a version of plum crazy like the Mopars.

Gentlemen, thank you for all your excellent input into my choice of color(s). I know it ultimately boils down to personal taste and preference, and what looks good to one might not look good to another.
Having said that, I concur with Celsior, in that the BGM (to my eye at least) adds to the luxury image of the LS400 and complements it well. I was looking for a color not commonly available, and the BGM certainly fits the bill in that regard. The fact that it hides dirt well and is classy is only topping on the cake for me.
I think RugbyDad summed it up perfectly: whatever color you have, and we have many represented in the LS400, if you have one that keeps you looking back at the car, you've found the right color for you.
