Tint Percentage?

rear (factory windows) are at 20% tint, so if you would like to match them you would need to do 20% on the front, however, pretty much every single state has a strict policy about them and i believe maximum ( within the legal limit) you can do is 30% tint on the front side windows.

Freshly tinted
-all windows Llumar CTX ceramic tint http://www.tintzoom.com/Articles.asp?ID=202
-80% windshield
-20% fronts
-35% rears (over existing factory tint)
$450 mobile tint came to me
Went with ceramic because sun protection for the interior and my 11 month old son.

That's the exact same tint I want, 20 in front and 35 in rear. I'm most likely going to use 3M CS.
I wanted to tint the windshield but aren't you afraid of rock chips cracking it and then you have to replace the windshield wasting all that money on the tint? That's the only reason I'm not considering having tint on the front windshield..

thanks for great thread everyone.
I just had our white RX done:
- 3M color stable 35 on front windows
- 3M color stable 90 on back windows and rear
- 3M crystalline 90 on front windshield
it was $275 for the 3M color stable + $250 for the crystalline front windshield.
i wanted the side windows to match as much as possible without being obviously illegal and having to deal with fixits. that's why i went with 35 in the front and didn't try to make the rears darker.
i also wanted heat rejection and uv protection, so that's why i tinted all the windows. i never knew about the front windshield, but i'm happy i did it.
notes: i have bad night vision b/c of lasik, but visibility is great on the side mirrors and out the rear window at night. there is slightly more reflection off the dash with the front tint during the day, but it's not too bad with the 90.
no comments yet on heat and UV b/c it's hard to do a side by side.
haven't taken pictures yet, but let me know if you're intrested.

I went with Formula One Pinnacle for $170 for two windows. Crystalline was $795 for two windows...definitely not worth the price difference. 30% on front, 5% on sunroof.
5% and 15%
5% and 15%

$795 for 2 windows is way too expensive for Crystalline. I paid $800ish for Crystalline on all windows except Moonroof...

Good call. It would look stupid if the front ones ended up looking darker than the rear ones.

Agreed. For just the fronts, I paid around $150 for Crystalline 70. I prefer F1 Pinnacle because the color is a charcoal grey. Crystalline looks a little green or brown to me especially in the lighter shades.
