All cigarette lighters n outlet inside center console box do not work
I plugged a faulty wire from a carcam into the the outlet inside the centre console box causing the fuse to blow. I did not know the wire was faulty until after the second time I had the P-CIG fuse replaced. The third time I replace the fuse, it did not work and All cigarette lighters n outlet inside center console box stopped functioning. I did some research in this forum but could not find any advice which I can follow. Anyone can advice where else to check and what to replace? Thanks.
FWIW, I had to replace the 15A P-cig fuse in the passenger side foot well fuse block. At some point the outlet stopped working, but that was the only outlet that stopped.
After replacing the fuse, it's been working fine. All other outlets work normal as well.
There are 2 fuses that are related to the cigarette lighters, and one related to the power outlet. As you mentioned, you have replaced P-CIG. Be sure to check the other 2 - both are in the driver-side fuse box.
Thanks for the quick advice.
I have checked the other 2 fuses. The one for the power outlet was blown, replaced and is working now. The CIG fuse was OK but nevertheless I had it replaced. However, still both cigarette lighters still do not work. Any further advice pl.?
My last message may not be clear enough. I am only getting power from the PWR OUTLET. The other two CIGs are still not working after replacing their fuses.
The cigarette lighters and power outlet are all very simple electrical circuits. Each of these items is protected by a dedicated fuse (see schematic below). As you mentioned, all 3 fuses have been replaced but only the power outlet is working, while the 2 cigarette lighters are still not working currently.
Your first troubleshooting step should be to find out if you're getting power at the cigarette lighter (pink wire), and if not, test to see if the fuse is getting power, if not, keep moving upstream until you find where the power is interrupted. Do you have a multimeter or a tool to test for 12VDC?
Thanks for your further advice. Have checked both D-ACC and P-ACC relay fuses and they are fine. Will get a multimeter, run a test for 12VDC and report back shortly.
The best place to start troubleshooting is actually at the junction boxes (J/B)... Here are the layout of the 2 J/B's - please note that the drawings are for US model vehicles. I believe the Hong Kong model's driver- and passenger-side arrangement is the opposite to the US model.
Using your multimeter, test for power at the fuse. With the fuse installed and your ignition turned to "ACC" or "ON", measure either one of the 2 test points (see arrows) against any metal part of the car to see if you have 12VDC power. If you have power at the fuse, then the problem is downstream of the fuse (wires going the lighter), otherwise if you don't have power at the fuse, the problem lies upstream of the fuse (wires going towards the battery).
Please let us know what you find, so we can plan the next step.
