Do you have the Brembo brakes? Better yet have you been living with squealing brakes for 6 straight years and 95k miles? I'm assuming you've had more than a couple of brake jobs in that time span.

Default The time to switch

Got the report back from the dealer, 4mm pads left, excessive glazing on the rotors. Dealer wants $900 to replace front pads and rotors. So, skipping that like a champ, and looking up some Power Stops.

So It's not quite clear if Akebono makes ceramic pads for the brembos...I did some searching on the Interwebs and was not able to find them.

Does anyone know the details and perhaps the best place to buy Akebonos (or Power Stop) ?

The link above seems to go to rear pads only?

Rock Auto hands down. They also sell Powerstop which has been proven.

The link is for Front pads, 161440:

The rear pads on Sport are the same as non-sport.

what is everyone using for replacement rotors? I'm looking for stock appearing, no need to have them slotted or drilled.

So my ceramic PowerStops arrived today from RockAuto and based on some pretty lousy packaging there's a significant chip on one of the front pads:

I spent a good 15 minutes on the phone with RockAuto, it's quite a process to get a replacement, I only need 1 pad and not a full exchange. But they don't seem that flexible and after a lot of back and forth they agreed to contact PowerStop to try to get this resolved quickly. My call to PowerStop of course resulted in them passing the buck back to their dealer RockAuto.

Other options were to buy another set and return mine, or return mine and they'll ship me another set once they receive them back (or receive shipping confirmation, they weren't real clear on that).

I'm not in a big pinch for time, but I do want to get those dirty factory pads out ASAP.

More to come.

Seems very minor to me, Wouldn't go through the hassle of exchanging it.

Had the TSB completed last week, & so far squeal has been eliminated. Before the TSB, the squeal would occur when braking at speeds <5mph. I used to know when my wife would come home by the ear piercing squeal when she would pull into the garage.

I was finally about to get the ceramic PowerStops installed today....took awhile due to my crazy schedule so I had to outsource to my local indy shop.

They feel the same as the stock, which is good. I will post some wheels pics at 500 and 1000 miles...

So a few months later my squeals are coming back really bad on the powerstop pads. Im planning on changing out pads and rotors this time. Has anyone try a aftermarket brand rotor instead of oem? I've also notice rockauto have another brand pads for our car with brembo so I'm going to try them out.

Bed the Power Stop pads in, the squealing will go away. No need to waste money replacing them or the rotors.
