Default Dash Cam hard wired

Trying to hard wire my dash cam but when I turn on my car the dash cam won't turn on. Not sure if I'm using the correct ground or not, or which fuse I should be putting it in?

Important - I hope your using a voltage reducer - 12V to 5V.

I wired mine from the mirror assembly using this video:

^^^^Soldering is really no big deal. I watched a couple of people do it, and tried it myself with good success. Todays solder contains flux, so again, IMHO, it's a piece of cake. Certainly a lot easier than running the wire down to the fuse area.

I personally bought an "add a fuse" and crimped my power wire from the dashcam to that and connected it to the fuse box under the passenger side glove box. pretty easy and I would think easier than soldering wires.

Ok thanks I will probably try that. Seems I'm not getting power to the cam with the ground wire to a bolt.

i brought this camera...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01B2DPYW2/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then this adapter to hardwire...

I didn't get a reliable connection using the pins so cut them off and soldered to the mirror. I removed the mirror from the car and soldered on a work bench. It was my first time and very easy.

Here's the post I used for reference...

Anyone who has hard wired their dash cam to the passenger fuse box, where did you ground? I saw a bolt down there under the glove box, but i'm not sure if that's actually attached to the firewall or body at all. No multimeter to check, but I was going to go borrow my Dad's if no one knew of a location.
