It has D4-S gasoline port and direct injection, Dual VVT-i with electric VVT-iE inlet camshaft actuation. But the engine itself only produces 394 hp. Lexus could easily get the LSh powertrain to 500hp nowadays, but sadly I don't think we'll see an 8 cylinder hybrid again unless it's an F or another supercar. Even Toyota's LMP1 car dropped the NA 3.7L V8 with hybrid system for a twin-turbo 2.4L V6 unit with hybrid system. . Weight of the LSh aside, the fuel economy at 19/23/20 and driving in full electric up to only 20mph would not do the LCh any favors.
agreed. v8 hybrid isn't going to happen, the math doesn't work out well anymore. for f cars down the road, i think tt v8 would make more sense anyway

yes, that's called the sl450. turbo v6 with only 360hp and with options that car is 100k easily. people are buying, i see more of that than sl550 on the road. but two factors making it happen

1) heritage. mb is very strong on this and sl has a long and respectable history. the royalty alone goes a long way
2) performance. the car is still pretty quick, 0-60 under 5. the lc500h is not quick at all so performance becomes a question mark

so yes it's doable but no i think the lc500h is tough.

i still think the lc500 is a great car, my eyes are on this. great car, great performance, superb sound, and pricing is very reasonable for what you are getting.

the idea is ok imho, it's no difference from supercharge or turbo. but i think lexus didn't make bold enough of a move (middle of nowhere) and their marketing was just horrible

I don't know if I missed the post about pricing, what is the starting range?

Btw, for those who haven't seen this yet, production LC500's roaming around with badges covered.

I have to say, Toyota has finally gotten the Lexus styling right with this new car. The interior looks great!

t sounds like Lexus is in a horsepower race with itself. First 3 then 4. What's next? 5? 6?

The secondary intake is a perfect reason for the 4 extra ponies. The RC F and GS F only have one.

It makes no sense for Toyota not to offer them.

PS. Lexus should offer a V12
They have to add up 5 hybrids to get just a okay number of sales but look at the individual hybrid Lexus models sales in the US, the cars all sell very poorly especially compared to their IC counterparts. RX hybrid sales are just okay. The CT does not sell well despite being the lowest price entry into the Lexus brand and essentially a upscale Prius which are very popular. People don't want or buy hybrid luxury cars, even BMW and Mercedes hybrids have pretty much non existent sales or demand.

I do agree it would be nice for Lexus to offer a V12.

A tune can easily bump this up to 500+hp... only if Lexus ECU is that easy to crack.

The care about the Badge, Styling, Luxury and HP figures.

Prius has given Hybrids a stigma of slow / econobox / safe - the opposite of what 100k buyers look for in a car.
Tesla has enormous success because of its Brand - the fact that its innovative, sets trends, cool tech and their cars are Fast as hell. None of which Lexus has accomplished in terms of image related to their hybrids.

Even BMW's i brand is a total Fail. They cant give the i3 away and the i8 only sells bec of its styling. If it had a TT V8, it would sell at double its current volume.
Luxury buyers don't want hybrids and tech ppl with $$$ go to Tesla for the badge and advanced tech and the fact the car is 100% electric.
that's exactly right unless hybrid is SPECIFICALLY for dramatic performance (nsx, ferrari, porsche 918?)

But a decrease in torque. Funny enough the torque is back for 2016.

2007 GS350 303hp/280lbft
2007 IS350 306hp/277lbft
2013 GS350 306hp/277lbft
2016 GS360 311hp/280lbft

unfortunately i am not allowed to disclose any of the details. i can only focus on saying that for the price, the numbers, the SOUND, and the DRIVING DYNAMICS and FEEL as a cruiser, i love it a lot. personally i am very positive about the lc500

yeah, and lexus made it like it's some breaking news... i keep on saying, this is less than 1% increase on paper and variance between engine assembly will easily have larger deviation than that @_@
