Default Thermostat gauge malfunction turning off a/c?

Has anyone heard of the ecm turning off the a/c when the thermostat gauge/ maybe sensor stops working?

Ive heard it does it to protect from over heating?

this is correct and there is a coolant temp sensor that fails and needs to be replaced. very easy to get to

thankyou very much and I'll take a look at that, do the sensors usually goo bad often? Or in my cause where it just turns of the temperature gauge? Ill see if can find it should be something on here

It not necessarily turning it off, its just not sending any information to display

The sensors is intermittently working at times. It's tricky. Any ideas on where the sensor is. Tryed doing research but can't get a definitive answer. I looked around the water pump and couldn't find any sensors.
