Ebay LED interior 2013 RX350 $6.95 for the set + install tips!!
Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum not to the site as I am a long time member coming from the second Gen IS ans RX forums.
Wife traded her 08 RX350 for a 2013 RX350 fully loaded and decided to start modding it for her. I just did the interior led swap.
I purchased this 13 pcs set from eBay for $6.95 http://www.ebay.com/itm/361422971373
It arrived pretty quick I highly recommend the seller. Went to town with no instructions on how to do it as I have done these on several other Lexus vehicles. Everything was smooth sailing except the rear passenger side dome, what a pita it is to remove that cover! I used a shoppers card to separate the cover a bit from the housing and using a small pick tool (hook type) I pull the cover gently but with force until it gave way and I was able to pull it away entirely by hand. I thought I was going to break the cover as it is really hard to pull from the tabs. Just when you thought pulling the cover was bad enough the next issue is removing the bulb itself, I had to use needle nose pliers to remove it. Space is very limited around the bulb so to replace it with LED you again have to hold the bulb with the needle nose pliers using the tip of it and force the bulb in. Make sure of the polarity is right before installing the new bulb. Front dome is not as bad fact I used a credit card to remove the cover, all you have to do is wiggle the card once it is wedged around the cover and it pulls fairly easy.
Sorry I don't have pics but trust me reading this makes your job so much easier and that is why I wanted to share this.
Next will be LED fogs, Cree LED reverse bulbs. Have to order these.....
Pick tools used
As with any do it yourself programs do all of this at your own risk!! I am not responsible for anything you break or damage. My tip is to be gentle when using the metal picks. I picked between the credit card and the cover never touching the cover base!
Happy modding!
let us know how the quality and life of the LEDs are with time.
I made a mistake and bought ebay led's once and never again will i make that mistake.
I can tell you right now that I have purchased these before from this seller for my IS350 and the 08 RX350 we traded and have them for several years with no issues at all. still as bright as day one. All bulbs are sensitive to handling and dirt you just have to be careful.
and dang . it sucks for guys here in canada. it cost more to ship than the acutal value of the led T_T US $13.46 for shipping when the leds cost
US $6.94 T__T

Did both of your previous vehicles have interior lights that automatically faded/dimmed to [OFF] and ramped up to [ON] every time someone opened/closed the door?
I know there are issues with household LED bulbs and dimmers and I know that our 2011 RX dims/ramps automatically.

Yes, fact all of the vehicles I installed these have the dimming on and off. IS350, RX350, my daily Pontiac Vibe too.
