Default glove box not closing

The glove box on my LS430 is not closing easily. I see the inner door coming apart from the outer door. Any suggestions on how I take the glove box out to see what I can do to fix this problem? Do I need to buy a new glove box?

Is anyone familiar with the problem of the inner and outer glove box door separating?

Not sure what you mean by "problem of the inner and outer glove box door separating". Can you post a picture?

The inner part of the door (inside the glove box) is separating and causing the latch not to stick out far enough to easily latch. I will post pictures tomorrow.

The repair manual doesn't have much on the glove box. Here's one of the pages...

I thought there might be a way to just change a few clips. I could change the whole gove box. Is it easy to move the lock to the new glove box?

This just show what I had to tape to make the door close.

This is a view of the door edge.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the gap on the glove compartment door. Without the packng tape, the lock mechanism does not stick out far enough to latch properly.

I finally removed the glove box to take a more close look. When I pulled apart the front of the glove box from the back, all that seemed to be holding the two was some sticky clay type material. I replaced that with a similar epoxy clay material. Although some of the epoxy shows, the door now works great.

Nice work. I guess there are still some faults that come up that have not been discussed. Thanks for posting the info and a good fix
