What the actual HELL is Lexus thinking? This is something stupid that Taco Bell or Mountain Dew would do? But a "respectable" luxury brand? Are they TRYING to devalue their brand and want them to go down to Acura levels or worse? Someone needs to get fired for this.

LOL I bet both the BMW and Benz declined the offer and Lexus jumped on it.

Okay I'm pretty sure then that this won't be an actual model they sell, at least I hope to the car gods it isn't. But even so, it's still stupid that they did this. What is the benefit of doing this to the IS? Did Sriracha pay them to do it or what exactly is the reason for even bothering to create something so irrelevant and pointless to what existing customers currently want?

I love Lexus and all but stuff like this doesn't make sense and it's hard to defend Lexus when other auto makers are putting out new exciting vehicles (like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio) and trim lines but here we have Lexus saying "Hey look at us guys! We have Sriracha! People like Sriracha right??"

Maybe I'm just seeing this in the wrong way but regardless of their reasoning, Lexus and Toyota really need to get to it when it comes to making exciting vehicles. I know Toyota has the Supra in development (hopefully its the supra anyway ) and Lexus made the RCF and GSF but just look at all their competitors. They all outclass the two new vehicles easily. What they need to do is focus on improving their vehicles and not trying to be funny or whatever this is. Especially at a big auto show like this...

Ok cause you know what happened right. Your just on a mission to make Lexus seem like a lesser luxury brand.

No, I just don't see this type of stupidity coming from other brands.

dude, why do you take every single criticism that someone makes so very personally? it's as if the lexus marque is your firstborn son or something. people are going to have varying opinions about the marque and said opinions should be respected. this is a forum to discuss the automotive industry with cordiality. let's keep it that way.

I understand this is from their marketing team and building brand awareness, since there is a large audience of hardcore Sriracha fans around the country.

It definitely doesn't help with cool factor, why couldn't they just do more cool stuff like hovering skateboards? That got them great press.

Its just comparing Lexus doing this for the LA Auto show vs Mercedes Maybach Cabriolet...kinds sucks.

Well for those worried about prestige, at least Lexus is official sponsor of New York Fashion Week, previously held by Mercedes. Now Lexus only needs their name on a major arena in a metropolitan city.

Called it Red with green accents is always Sriracha to me

They've done tennis IS and golf ball LS before so it's not like this is the first time they've done something weird.

The tennis ball IS was cool and it linked well to the US Open.

This hot sauce project is a fail.

Hillary Clinton carries hot sauce in her purse... and maybe a scale model of the IS Siracha Edition.

Not sure if you guys read Jalopnik, but they just posted about this. Basically it's sums up to, what in the hell is this, who the he'll would buy it, and why did Lexus choose now of all times to do this? Especially considering all the cool stuff other auto makers showed off. Also apparently some people hate Sriracha... Who knew? Lol.

Was probably some young marketing guy that thought he had a genius idea.

Lexus may have an open position to fill soon in the marketing dept.
