Found Flyaudios Manufacturer
#1217
My unit arrived yesterday and i already connected and tested it a bit.
It looks great and the Android System runs fast tough there was no german language preinstalled.
But I already found couple issues:
For example the passenger-airbag. It seems like it is not working or t is not connected because my Lexus shows up the red-passengers-airbag control light all the time.
There was no manual at all. But there is not much do do wrong with the wiring. There is only one possibility to connect the adapter to the cars wiring.
Also the Sound quality from the two usb adapter cables is very bad and the old original usb port is not working any more.
The sound quality from bluetooth is better, but there is no equalizer options for bluetooth and usb so i cannot set the low, mid and high frequencies like they are set for CD.
Sound quality from CD and UKW-Radio seems to be as good as it was with the old Unit.
Has anybody an idea how to fix the airbag issue? This is the most impotant thing right now. are there any wiring-manuals or something? I couldn't find any on this forum that might help.

How long does it take for the system to boot up and be usable? And can you change the time to AM/PM instead of 24-hour?

- Passenger Airbag Control Light is always on. ( plus the Passengers Airbag Symbol in the Navigation unit is dead)
- The two parts ("old" lower unit with CD-Changer, FM, AUX Bluetooth etc... and the "new" upper Part, the Display Unit) seem not work 100% together. That means there are couple weird issues with the Source Select, especially with CD/AUX. It is difficult to explain but I will try:
- there is no GUI or "App" for the external Sources in the arm rest (USB, AUX)
- By hitting the CD/AUX Button once, the Display switches from any screen to the CD Screen (so far so good) but if you push it again and you have an external source connected (in the arm rest) it switches from CD to this Source and you can hear it, but there is no visual GUI in the display-unit. That means you can´t see in which folder you are on your USB stick or if it is your USB Stick or AUX (still talking about the "old" sources in the arm rest). That means also, that you can´t change the equalizer any more for this two Sources (Once your battery is disconneced, all this settings are forever gone and you can only change them by plugging in your old upper Radio-Unit ) You can´t even change your bluetooth device (in the original/lower Part), because of this missing GUI. Only CD has its own Screen with all its settings which you know from the original device.
- --> This might be possible to fix with an software update
- If you use the USB-Adapters (there are two) from the new Unit it always starts to play automatically the first song from the USB-Stick or the internal Memory when you start your car (That can also often mean, that it plays all navigation voices from the navigation apps in a row... )
- All new sources have a very bad soundquality. USB1 USB2 and especially Bluetooth is causing pain in my ears ( you can always hear a biiiig quality and volume difference between the "old" and the "new" sources. Everything that is coming from the original/lower Part of the Radio has still the same great quality as before (with the missing GUI that i mentioned before).
- The steering wheel Buttons for phone calls have wrong functions. They are switching sources instead of picking up calls.
- The phone-call quality is very bad. My opponent can barely hear me and there is a steady and annoying background noise.
- FM Frequencies only go to 103MHz ( In Germany we have up to 108Mhz).
- RDS is not working
- You can set an app as standard navigation app, which opens by hitting the physical Navi-Button.
- There is an optional additional Speaker for Navigation Voice that is working also by using one of the "old" sources (not always )
- There is real Multitasking, so Navigation stays in the background when you open another app and you can still hear the navigation voice (Except you open one of the old Sources CD/AUX/old-USB, herefore there is the additional Speaker).
Here some more pics:
(Amazon Music App)
i will keep testing it for a while and maybe look for a car-hifi specialist who could change some crappy china hardware parts on the mainboard...
Did anybody buy this Unit as well and can tell me if he has the same issues?

The previous model didn't have this problem. It was a problem with the first model; that was fixed in the second model, but I guess it came back now. There was some kind of adapter needed to fix the light.

And when you shut down your car the unit shuts down but remains in some kind of "memory standby"
That means if you start the engine or power again during the next few minutes it wakes up again immediately.
Am/pm clock I didn't check yet.

Being based on Android, if you turn on the developer mode (or especially figure out how to root it if it isn't already) you can get into the behind-the-scenes software and make some adjustments like preventing the music auto-play, or even re-configure which buttons do what. To turn on developer mode, you would go into settings, scroll down to "Build Number" and press it six times. This will allow you to load non-store apps and to also access the adb shell.
Not sure if any of the above jargon means anything to you, but there are lots of resources out there for customizing android.
As for the Airbag light always on, my guess would be that it the signal level is reversed from what it should be (12V for on vs. GND for on.) The lamp is just a discrete signal like that.
Crappy sound: Well, it should just be sending line level audio out to the car amplifier. That wouldn't leave a whole lot of room for crappy components in the way. More likely to be audio rendering settings. You may be able to find an equalizer app for Android. Also check the various volume levels. There should be one specifically for media volume.
Maybe something like this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....equalizer.pay

I am debating whether to get this or go with an iVic unit. Price is almost the same for either.
