Negotiate with the Insurance provider! My wife totaled her VW Jetta (deer) and we got $4,800 from the insurance co. Pointed out the model was "loaded" with options. Great, especially since we paid just $3,650 for it when we bought it from her girlfriend with 90k miles on it. We bought it back for $850 and put about $700 into fixing the damage. We call our $400 car. That was I-don't-know-how many years ago. It now has 242k miles on it and she still drives it to work daily. These things can work out in your favor. Good Luck, Haya....

Truck drivers hit a million miles frequently..

Again, glad everyone got out ok.
Thank you for the good wishes!

I got the the RX with 8 miles on the odo and it took 17 yrs to get 1/4 million miles. I dont plan to change my lifestyle drastically. See more USA after retirement

I can get the car rolling for couple of hundred, but the quarter-panel (destroyed), bumper (destroyed), structural (fixable) rear hatch (minor), side door (minor) will require lots of $$$$.

It may be too traumatic, but can you share photos of the RX? Since everyone is ok, that is...

JonasRX,

Are those aftermarket headlights? If so, do you have a link where to buy?

Thanks.

Since my RX is not drivable, I have not been able to get as estimate on repairs.

I have looked at some 330/350/400h .. 6-9 yrs younger with less than half on ODO and they all disappoint me. There was only 1 which I even ventured to drive and nothing has tugged my heart.
As I compose this note, I am tempted to turn the picture right side up.

What do the members say?

Salim

I do have a personal bias for first gen and that is honestly only skin deep ... styling, less chrome/silver/metal ... but there have been advancements and the later models are constantly better as a machine [and not looks imho].

What I did not like was the lack of care previous owner(s) extended to the vehicle ... makes me think they would not have taken care of the machine too.

Sorry to hear of the accident. The big problem is that anyone with a good clean rx has no interest in selling it and whats on the market is deferred maintenance vehicles. When I bought ours, I had a check list of absolutes.
1) no accidents reported, no matter how small
2) transmission already replaced
3) no rust at all
4) paint in good repair

the rest can be fixed and updated. It took a few weeks and about $1,100 but its ready for another 100,000 miles, well, once I get around to the timing belt and cam seals that is.

but its like finding a unicorn.
