The grille has way too much plastic which looks cheap. Audi, on the other hand, finishes their grilles with some nice, tasteful strips of chrome.
Then you have the thick chrome surrounding the grills which [while fine at the top] becomes too thick as it moves downward. The sharp edges at the very bottom look bad as well.

You're so right. I was liking the RC Coupe, but when I saw in person all the interwoven plastic on the huge F-Sport grill, I just said "I can't". Unfortunate. The rest of the car is quite nice.
For 2016 lots of people wanted an RX which made it the all time highest selling year ever. In 2016 Lexus sold 109,435 RX vehicles. Even the NX doesn't take away or slow RX sales. Very soon we'll get a long wheel base version.
I've grown to like the crazy maul up front, but the hearse side buttress windows still look terrible. I wouldn't want this vehicle for that reason. The NX however, has a much more agreeable side profile.
This is exactly how I felt after looking at 3 different versions (Normal, FSport, and Hybrid). FSport is the one I really want, love the interior but man the " hearse side buttress windows" is No can do for me. Got the NX FSport instead...but wish it is little bigger.....
I just had a new RX loaner while my GS was in for service. What an improvement over my 13 RX that I no longer have. It was an impressive drive and the interior is a wonderful place to spend time.
When we traded in our RX, we went with a Highlander to get the third row. Had the RX offered a third row, we probably would have gone that route. With that said, in regards to the exterior, I'm still not in love with it but feel that the great drive and interior may help me to get past the exterior.
My gf almost sold her IS250 for one, but the plastic trim around the wheel well changed her mind real quick. Reminded her of her moms 2015 Rav4, at half the price. Anyone else feel the same way? Plastic pieces dont belong on luxury cars..
The plastic trim around the wheel wells doesn't bother me, but I know it does some people. I always seemed to get door dings on my 3RX right above the wheel wells, so it's a welcome addition for me. My Highlander has it and I don't mind at all.
"Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder" and all that, but the front is giant turn-off. In fact, we just bought a 2010 RX450h in October, when my previous car was getting sick quickly. The 2010 RX450h was there in the dealer parking lot, right next to newer RX's, and I loved the understated grille on it.
Pricing was not a significant issue, we were willing to buy brand-new. But I would not have bought a newer Lexus, just based on the ridiculous Star Wars Storm Trooper front end. Again, Beauty/Beholder blah blah, but wow, just awful in my view.

Well, let's face it...........you're just not one of the beholders.
And, to an extent, neither am I.....though my dislike of the spindle-grilles is somewhat less-extreme than yours.
