You have to pull towards you..I used an L shaped hook to take them off. The covers WILL be damaged..no way around it. You need to use some force to get the covers off as they are what push the clip out to secure the grab handle. I saw a TSB that shows removing the covers, and even in there says they need to be replaced after pulled off(due to marring I guess). You don't HAVE to replace them..but they will be slightly messed up(once the handle is in place you won't see them.

Since this Sunglasses Holder you found is for a Toyota RAV4 there's a pretty good chance the spacing and connection system hardware might be the same as we have on our Lexus GS 350s. I'm eager to find out what you learn about it.

For comparison - below is an image of what the grab handle connection looks like in a GS 350 (as posted by another member who was going to try to install a sunglasses holder in-place of the grab handle). It looks to be the same type of connection system hardware as on the Toyota RAV4. It just might work!!!
I understand the practical intent of this but man...from an aesthetic level that would kill the interior vibe of this car for me. It's got mini-van written all over it....
my thoughts exactly! great utility, but the aesthetics!??!!?
Well I got my sunglass holder tonight and spent a little while fitting it. As several people stated, it is NOT a direct fit. It's a little short for the specific area, but here it is mounted in my 2015 GS350. Not sure if it's a "keeper" as the spring responsible for closing is rather weak. I formed it a bit to give it a little more strength so it will fully close with a pair of suglasses in it. I'll give it a few days and report back, here are the pics:
Yeah, I see where it comes up short on the right-hand side...the way you have it mounted. That's too bad. It's a real shame there's not an easy swap, because the concept is a good one...
