I have disassembled several 1998-2000 LS400 intake manifolds and observed pools of reddish-brown fluid in non intake rumner "pockets"
It is a mystery how any fluid could reside in these sealed pockets unless plaved there at the time of manufacture.
Damping? Cooling?
Anyone care to field this one...
Non intake runner pockets contain pools of reddish fluid...Supposed to be there? What is it? Purpose? Closer view of bottom half of intake manifold showing reddish fluid. In pockets
i guess it's not possible it would be ATF from the power steering?
So these fluid-filled pockets appear to be completely isolated from the intake stream via a metallic gasket between the upper and lower intake manifold....and the amount in each is equal...
The question is whether the O.E.M. placed fluid there during production...
As discussed, I have encountered this fluid each time I have disassembled 1998-2000 LS400 intake manifolds...
Haa anyone else seperated top and bottom of intake and encountered this fluid??
The dealer tech advises he has never separated an intake so cannot with authority...
