I’ve had the same problems as many others with the soft paint peeling off the steering wheel controls. $450 for the replacement part was ridiculous, so I tried several things which weren’t acceptable. Finally, I traced and documented the graphics and locations, then had a local vinyl wrap guy produce artwork and make some up. My wife is tickled pink with them although I’m not entirely happy. My question to you guys is, would it be worth $25 or $30 for two sets of these wraps? One set is to apply and screw up, the second is for when you’ve passed the learning curve. One of my problems is that I didn’t clean all the old paint off the one side and it’s outlines show through the vinyl. It can be seen in the photo. If there's any interest, I'll revise my art a skosh and try again.

the best fix
It took almost 6 month of Ebay automated Search but i was able to score a 2010 steering wheel that had a good set of buttons and only set me back $90, this was due to a light tear in the leather of the wheel. Don't care.
The install was easy as pie just followed this guide:
1. Disconnect Car Battery.
2. Pop off two plastic covers and loosen two star screws.
3. Lift up Air Bag and Remove two more screws for the buttons themselves, Pry up gently the buttons to remove.
4. Install New buttons and connectors, dont forget ground wire to the bag.
5. Reverse steps 3 to 1 and Done!

Replaced Radio Controls
I have just completed replacing my peeling 2008 radio controls with Controls from a 2010. They work and look Great. Took me 30 minutes start to finish. I bought a wheel with the controls on ebay for $175.

Rubber Breakdown
Has anyone tried this product? I am thinking about using the Rubberized paint from Auto Zone and just paint over the existing controls.

Lexus knows this is a quality control issue but they won't fix it.
2007 Lexus ES350 did get my melting dashboard fixed

Hi Bob,
I just bought some from https://www.controlbuttonrenu.com/lexus/
I wasn't able to get all the paint off and my buttons look like your first try. How did you remove the paint so well?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
