Have not seen an reports of more power from exhaust changes. The 4.3 engine has three cat converters and the small diameter exhaust system seems well matched to the smaller engine. 262? Cu in.
My gripe is that all the products I have seen still only use one centerpipe to and from the third cat, so it would seem there is an inherent backup in the system.

why dont you just go the route I used, it only cost about $100 or was it $80, either way the car has a nice sound now and she breathes a little easier. The O2 sensors were not compromised and the CEL is off.
I actually took off an aftermarket exhaust and put the stock one back on.
In your other post BGW, you said "If you do not join the exhaust, you basically have two four cylinder engines... "
Can you explain this more? Are you just talking about the sound?
And do you work for/own a Midas?
there are advantages to joining the exhaust using the type in our Lexus or an X pipe, by joining you allow the exhaust to balance out and it provides a better sound.
In that thread, coleroad provided a link all about exhaust systems.
there is also another video of a very open system.
i should make another video with the car driving down the road.
i don't work or own a Midas shop, I work for a defense contractor and perform communications flight testing.
I just scanned through the post and wasn't reading it too close. I was a little surprised when I read "Several of us at Midas discussed this and decided we should continue to allow the exhaust to join at the original catalyst point because:
Toyota designed it that way and we did not know if the muffler would join the exhaust."

yes, I can see how that sounds now. It was a slow day for them and about four us were deciding how to make the connection. We considered going with two singles but I have read that duel exhaust should be joined together. Many old muscle cars used an H one X configuration.
i started out considering a magnaflow system but decided to just remove parts. I now have two cats and two mufflers; she has a nice sound, IMO.
I'm happy with my PPE headers, resonator delete and replaced the stock mufflers with Borla mufflers. Grumbles up until 1500RPM and purrs thereafter. Not sure if it's worth it to get rid of the crush bend just before the mufflers?
