I'm a newbie here having literally owned mine almost exactly a month now. I was drawn to the capabilities and reliability of this vehicle as well.

A peak at the old '10 & '11 brochures will give you an idea on features & packages

[2011]

Are you looking to put a lift on it or tow? I bought one with the air suspension since I plan to tow... I probably won't lift mine anytime soon as that would require gutting that system AFAIK.

As you probably know they all have KDSS now.

I think the only real change between 2010 & 2011 is the addition of this -----> "For 2011, all Lexus vehicles are equipped with new Smart Stop Technology, which automatically reduces engine power when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are applied simultaneously under certain driving conditions. " http://www.autoblog.com/buy/2011-Lex...expert-review/

Not really lift or towing just a family truck to pick and drop the kids to and from the school. From the braking point of view 2011 looks to be better then the 2010s

I assume that Smart Stop feature was added during those sudden acceleration claims back in the day.

With what you have listed above I'd just go with a base then. Leather was actually standard on both trims in '10-'13. You'll be able to find a good one in your price range. If you did plan to tow at some point you could always just add some air shocks on the back.

I used this site to give me a better view of vehicle history and free as well

Will do... I'm really sold on these rigs. Years back I was set on a 470 but just didn't happen. Opportunity and need showed up and 460 looked like it would fit the bill perfectly.

Seeing how few TSBs are even out there should tell you something about reliability as well...

Don't rely solely on Craigslist... I found mine on AutoTrader and there was no CL ad.

This is a nationwide Cargurus search.. I based out of a Seattle zip but it is the entire country. This is for 2010-2011

Thanks btw how can I tell by looking at the pictures what trim is the truck. I know some of them had DVD players on the back of both seats but those were very few otherwise how can I tell if it's base model or a premium one.

On the inside, premiums have four switches beside the shifter, and base models have two switches. On the outside, the chrome molding around the rear side windows on premiums continues upward around the window in a hockey stick shape. Base models trim piece terminates in a straight line at the bottom of the window. We bought a premium last fall with a lot of Miles on it, and we've enjoyed the truck very much. No problems at all. They're great trucks, And though we enjoyed the 470s we owned, I like the 460 a lot more.

I think the easiest clue on outside for a Premium model is the headlight washers. I think some have added the chrome molding from what I read in older threads. This probably isn't common but be aware of that possibility.

I am away from home on a business trip or I would take some pictures to show you precisely what I mean. If you find a good deal on a base model that you like, I wouldn't hesitate. I just wanted a premium, and I'm glad we got one.

There is always the rare wideview monitor, radar cruise and crawl control options. Mine didn't come with this but one of the cameras is easily seen below the Lexus emblem on front grille. I have read but haven't seen that crawl control could be optioned independently too.

Crawl control button will look like this on lower left switch with On/Off button at top.

Versus this downhill control which is standard on all GX 460s.
