Default Air suspension ?

How do Iknow if I have air suspension on the car? I dont think it does as I have never seen it rise or fall at the back as my TownCar does.

You would have two buttons. One with "Sport" and one with "Height" located between on the console between the tape player and the gearshift.

I dont have those buttons, but the window sticker says I have air suspension. There are two buttons there but one is the rear shade and the other I dont remember, but its not either of the ones you mention.

Air suspension only came on a Ultra Luxury model. That model also came with rear reclining and massaging seats and a rear cool box behind the rear center armrest. If you don't have those features then you don't have air suspension.

What does it say on your window sticker?

I misspoke (politician talk). It wasn't the window sticker, it was the VIN decoder that said, under special equipment::
Suspension Type - Front Air, Independent, Independent
Suspension Type - Rear Air, Independent, Independent

I don't know about a vin decoder. It could be generic or wrong. But if you had an Ultra Luxury it would have the other features that I mentioned. If you don't have them, you probably don't have air suspension.

BTW, what is that rectangular "slot" on the upper left part of your shift plate. Mine has a square not rectangle and its a hole like something is missing. What is it?

That is access to the shift lock override. If something happens to your car and you need to get it out of park, you stick a screwdriver or something similar in it, push straight down, and pull the shifter out of park. The majority of the times that I've seen it used is if the car needs to be towed without starting it. Like for a dead battery or a lost key. There should be a cover for that hole. It sounds like yours is missing.

The VIN decoder on this site has errors. I do NOT have air suspension...I looked under the car and there springs on the top of tthe shocks. Thats good. its just expensive and error prone.

I Have the window sticker and it does not show air suspension but the VIN decoder did so I thought it might have been a customer upgrade (downgrade in my opinion)

Why not look into the wheel wells behind the wheels for the struts? If you see the coil springs, they are STD spring struts. If you see rubber bags instead of springs, they are air struts.

A Day Late. I did that yesterday and determined as reported yesterday, no air suspension.
