Default 200T Toms Powerbox installed. Question

.

Thanks to ModInJapan, I finally got my Toms Powerbox and installed on my NX today. Couldn't really test out out to it full limit due to NYC traffic. But here is the quick review....

install was pretty easy and straight forward. Didn't have to take any of the engine compartment panels off to install. Only the 2 boost sensor u have to disconnect and loop into the Powerbox.

As soon as I pulled out of my work garage, I felt the car pull a little harder. When i floored it on the side streets, I definitely feel the harder pull throughout the powerband. When I entered the highway... that's when the traffic started the whole way home and the fun stopped. Lol.

One thing i did find strange is that before the Powerbox install, the boost gauge will show max boost at 15psi at WOT and turn yellow..... after the install, the boost gauge never reach max when I WOT it and always bounce around between 7.5psi.. Is this normal?

here is a video.... sorry for the crappy quality.

if it's halfing the boost psi, you might be in limp mode

Don't feel like it's in limp mode.

when i disconnect the powerbox, it gets full 15psi boost back. When I plug back the powerbox, the gauge shows 7.5psi but I do feel the extra power.

Someone said its the powerbox tricking the sensors. Dunno how true it is. *shrug*

What you have to understand about these piggyback systems is that they send a different MAP "Manifold Absolute Pressure" signal to the ECU. The boost gauge reading is what the BOX is sending back to the ECU, but the actual boost reading will be a lot higher. Lets say the actual boost is at 12PSI then the BOX will send a signal of 8PSI to fool the ECU to make more boost.

so the incorrect reading after the powerbox install on the factory boost gauge is normal right? I wasn't sure if it's normal or something was defective.

Yes that is perfectly normal, but the car should still feel a lot better than stock.

cool. I was going crazy last night with the boost readings. Other than that, the car drives and pulls a lot better than stock. And since I have an aem intake, I can hear the engine breathe in a lot more and louder. Lol. Thanks sheddy, I was waiting for u to reply too since u were one of the first to test it. Lol

Very easy to install. Took me about 10 min. Only 2 sensor u need to loop to the box.

They only include a Japanese and English instruction but it's pretty crappy with small black and white pictures.

the pull is stronger. I've been driving it for a week. If you drive normal, fuel consumption is the same. Getting around 24.5ish. When u wot, it's another world.
