Default RC-F rear rotors on the IS-F - Pictures and DIY

Hey guys!

DIY Tutorial with pictures will follow the next days, please find attached some pictures of the rotors and pads in comparison.

Lexus RC-F rear rotors on the IS-F
Plug & Play, can be only used together with IS-F brake pads, the RC-F ones are a little bit longer, so they won't fit into the OEM calipers.
Unfortunately it's not possible to use the rear RC-F calipers on the IS-F because the distance between the brake bracket is 5mm too long on the RC-F calipers 🤧

Pad comparison
Both pads fit on the rotor
Ventilation
Brake pads
Left side RCF
Right side ISF

Thanks for doing the comparison, looks like another option for ISF platform. Did you notice any weight difference between the rotors?

Why would you want to use RCF rotors but nothing else?

Presumably as owners of RCF's start changing out their cars and fitting aftermarket parts, you could see a few sets of lightly worn RCF OEM rotors up for sale via the forum/eBay etc.

If so, could be a cheaper way of upgrading from the drilled to the slotted type of rotor now seen on all RCF's, GSF's etc.

Op has already mentioned why you can't use the RCF calipers or pads.

Well I didn't think someone would do a rotor job with used rotors....

Just going off the photos mate.

Clearly those aren't brand new RCF rotors?!

At least I hope they aren't, as I'd be pissed if they turned up looking like that!

Definitely a nice option for someone who is looking to get away from drilled rotors and wants to stay OEM. Thanks for doing this.

Get away from x-drilled you mean?

Thanks for posting this, OP! Curious about the weight difference between the two... Please let us know if you can weight them.

Thanks for posting this! I have the RR Racing front rotors, which are slotted, so I've been meaning to source this info to see if I can replace my rear rotors with the slotted RC-F rear rotors, and now i know!

^^^^IMHO the ISF front caliper is a better choice because there is a better pad choice. They are supported by more third party pad manufacturers - Ferodo, Project MU, Hawk, StopTech and etc. The OEM Brembo front calipers in addition to Lexus, are used by MB and other performance manufacturers.
