Default interior trim piece peeling off-what to do?

Hey! any advice is appreciated! 2011 ls 460 with interior trim piece above navi peeling off. Can this part be ordered? Can anyone tell me what this part is even called? My wife had a fit when i peeled it off. It had a minor scuff and i tried to clean it and it peeled off 1 and half inches. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately you have to replace the entire navigation head unit to replace that part. $$$.

that piece looks like it should just pop out off corners. it looks like a one piece transitional piece that goes around the hazard and to clock. looks like it should pop off around climate button on left and paasenger button on right. it doesnt appear that it has to do with navi assembly. upon further inspection, this is one piece that goes over clock and hazards.

It looks that way, but it isn't that way. If you look back through the forum you will see this as been discussed before. That piece is only available as a part of the whole navi unit.

Here is a link to the part, its two pieces like you said, but you cannot purchase the outer bezel separately:

As you can see, there is no price for "#2" only "#1" which includes #2 for $11,500:

thank you so much for this information! obviously not paying 11000 to fix 2 inch scratch. that is crazy. however, how in the past has this issue been resolved by others? if you could post that thread that would be awesome or if you know something better- i have got to get this fixed!

I'm not sure where the thread is but you can search back through the forum to find it. I think most people have just lived with similar problems unfortunately.

You could try to find one in a junkyard somewhere.

Here is the thread that I started...only advice given was to try to paint it since the piece is part of the head unit. I get aggravated every time I see it but haven't gotten a chance to try to paint it and don't want it to look worse.

Yup, common problem with these cars, mine is the same. I'm currently just living with it but may try some type of fix in the near future.

You don't have anything to lose by painting it. A good auto parts paint shop would be able to make up a custom color for you. If you have an airbrush, I would do that after masking the area.

Someone on here fixed theirs by carefully masking, sanding the peeled transition areas smooth, and painting it with chrome spray paint. Since chrome paint never truly duplicates the polished appearance of chrome, you end up with a near- perfect match for the factory silver metallic finish.

I don't but that sounds like a good idea. Thanks! Once I have some extra time I will look into it for sure.
