I love the new LS. First LS I'd really consider owning. I really hope the GS follows this design theme.

Just out of interest only Jill, the Crown has been on sale since 1955, and it has always used the conventional 4 glass window design.
Neither the Crown nor the Lexus LS has ever used the 6 light window design.
This marks a radical departure for Toyota Motor Corporation.

Rumor: Next-Generation Lexus GS F Powered by 4.0L Twin Turbo V8?

Japanese magazine Best Car is reporting that the next-generation Lexus GS F will be powered by a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with over 590 horsepower and 500 lb.ft of torque.

Last week, Best Car claimed the same engine would be used in a high-performance variant of the LC.

This new rumor directly contradicts recent reports of the GS sedan being cancelled — the change in product planning would be a welcome reversal for Lexus enthusiasts everywhere.

One thing I hope the next GS rids itself of is the odd kink in the C-pillar. I don't think it ever really caught on or did anything to enhance the style of the greenhouse.
The blue car rendered above shows an IS-style C-pillar. I wonder if that is the direction of the GS or if the above car is actually an IS rendering.

These designs keep getting more and more boy racerish.

currently living in japan. the crown is an awesome car and has great presence on the road if you ask me. I knock the predator grill all the time, but the crownified predator grill makes the vehicle really unique.

Will 590hp be considered class leading or even par in 3yrs when its competitors are at or near that level NOW?

The 2019 5GS and 2019 7ES should be pretty compelling. I imagine they'll borrow cool tricks and cues from the latest LS and LC.

As to the GS I'd like to see the line-up something like this
GS300 (2.0T)
GS400/500 (3.5L TTV6)
GS500h (3.5L V6 + Lexus Hybrid Drive / Multi-Speed) (or Plug-In)
GS F (4.0L TTV8)

Also Lexus needs to address the limited AWD availability on some models in this next generatino. Current 2.0T (IS/RC/GS) is RWD only. For AWD you must step up to the V6, despite competitors

I think the idea here if you want to own the high performance segment just throw on a couple of M and AMG badges with the three pointed star or blue checkered. Theres nothing else you really can do; other marques have ferocious, cars that will near kill you with their levels of performance but if its missing the above, mehhh.

As far as the hybrid goes, I believe the U.S. would drop their dollars on efficiency over performance. The hybrid should focus on mpg's over all other things. Leave the performance models to the gas and turbo engines. The ES has the right idea with the mix.

The thing is, the GSh is neither efficient or high performance. It's sort of stuck in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully, Lexus will make up their minds and please add e-awd to the GSh. I mean its a family sedan at the end of the day and people might want to drive it in the winter as well.

Agreed. It is neither much quicker nor more efficient. Yet it cost a ton more. Really a bad business case, which sales reflect. Hybrid should fall on the cheaper side of the coin, since it's people looking to save money (at the gas pump) who look at these in the first place.
I don't see much of a connection to hybrid + AWD nor more than gas + AWD. AWD drive is needed, period, regardless of what motor it comes with. Actually, I think gas engines in AWD climates do better in super cold conditions.

I bet it will be called a GS450???
Because GS400 wouldn't be enough considering that it's a 3.5 TT.
While GS500 would be too much, and too close to LS500.
Hence will probably be a GS450?
Lexus tends to give GS a "detuned" version of LS V8, so I wouldn't be surprized if they detuned the 3.5 TT.

However, GS300t 2.0t, and GS500h, and you're spot on; unlikely to be anything else...
