Thanks guys. The lane keeping function does work at low speed and I used it to drive on that road everyday to work. My hand was on the steering wheel but I guess the condition was just not ideal. I posted it here just let everyone know it doesn't work all the time. It's definitely my fault to not look after my dear new car
You have to make sure you have the two blue boxes on each side of the white markers in order for lane centering to be active. I've noticed that bad road markings, confusing road markings, water on the ground, and sun shining again camera can cause the lane centering feature to turn off because it can't read the lines.
LKA = Lane Keep Assist = Assist in Keeping Driver in Lane. Lexus does not market its system as autonomouse driving, so you cannot assume it will do what a Tesla can do. Alot of customers are mislead that fact.
This system will not steer for you. Also, it will ONLY work when you're traveling 32MPH or above. Next time, scroll to the screen in your front display that has a diagram of your car and 2 bars on the right and left. When the bars are solid white, it means the system is active.
There is a road in my neighborhood that curves to the left with street parking. On occasion the collision avoidance system will display BRAKE as I approach the curve. It appears the system 'sees' the parked cars without 'knowing' the road curves and displays the warning. So far it hasn't applied the brakes, just displays the warning.
i have also received the red warning light under the same conditions. Worries me that it will slam on the brakes while I am in a turn and cause me to go into oncoming traffic. Has not happened yet and hopefully because Lexus has programmed it not to do so.
