GS480 Stick Shift For Cheap Asses!

The cam swap begins. I love the space to work on this thing. I clearly remember the 2JZ being an absolute bear to work on, specifically removing the engine harness. This thing, I had all this pulled apart in about 15 minutes. I just need to get this crank pulley off. One little tip Chevy could have used from Toyota, I like pulleys that I can press off with my bare hands.

Specs are 218/224 on 115 plus 4 lsa. Lift is .520 or around that. I won't say I have plans to turbo, but I do think about it a lot. I'd go gt45 China turbo on the cheap... But that's later. Next year maybe.
Got my crank pulley off and valve covers removed. I want to install a chain damper which my engine did not come with. This will necessitate removing the oil pump. The chain damper is for those who like to live on the rev limiter. I intend on raising the rpm limit to 6500 initially, but I don't see why I can't rev to 7k on the short stroke 4.8
Being my first v8, I have to comment on how simple it is to work on this. How many more fasteners are on a 3uzfe or 2jz??

So these popped up on CL recently.....
4 brand new tires and chrome is great. Some marks on them here and there but they look great.
Down side: one wheel has a tiny crack and lets air out. Being the novice tig welder I am, I reckon I can fix it.
245/35/20 and rear are staggered. 300 bucks! Yea!

Couple hours this morning and I got my cracked wheel fixed. It had one crack already "fixed" and a new one. So I drilled holes in both where the cracks stopped, and cut a channel out of them with a cut off wheel. After welding I ground, flapwheeled, and finished with a wire wheel for the bead surface. I left the weld on the outside of the wheel for strength. I think my 19" tires were run-flats, because this was waaayy softer and easier to install.
Made in China, there's my problem...
Stole this idea from a YouTube vid, the C-clamp vice grip worked **** for getting this down into the drop.
No bubbles!

Sadly the previous owner did not respect his Lexus the way most Lexus owners do.
The front bumper has some damage on that side and the light was ineffectively glued back in. It was just dangling when I got the car so when the maiden voyage time came, I got crafty with zip ties. Front bumper and fenders need replacement anyway.

Got my cam installed, I pushed a couple wood dowels up against the lifters for extra insurance. Was very nervous about dropping a lifter, I had one that was too happy to fall down on me but I succeeded.
One hole tapped for the chain damper. I prefer to go one at a time for accuracy.
10 springs finished and I needed to upgrade my bolts again.

I believe that in this point of driving with the new cam, my alternator had failed. It could be the multiple trips to 6800 rpm or more likely, it's a 72 dollar ebay alternator.
Either way, I did notice the power dying off on the way home, so this video is likely inaccurate as to performance. I hope!
