Default Brake light stay on

Hello everyone, I try to search this problem, but can't find it. I have '99 GS 300, my brake light stay on even though I turn off the engine. Try disconnect the battery, than connected again, the brake light turn on, without stepping on the break.
I just guess, the brake switch going bad, any idea? need help, if the switch where is the location of the switch and where to get the part?
Thank you very much.

I'm assuming by brake light, you're talking about outside of the car and not the dash light, correct?
It could be the bumper on the pedal, it may be worn or broken, go under and check.

If its the switch, heres the part number: 84340-32110

If its the bumper, heres that part number: 90541-06036

Thank you for your help, I did the test on the switch, is working fine.
The cushion or pad or bumper what they call it was broken, replaced it and now working fine.
Thanks again.

THANK YOU... ! Your picture above saved me hours of wasted time trying figure this out. After seeing this drawing I noticed little broken pieces of black plastic on my drivers side floor mat. I bought a new cushion for $1.57 at the Lexus Dealer and my brake light & Dead battery "problem" is FIXED ! Thank You !!

WOW, who would have thought that a $1.50 part (with 275,000 miles of use), could cause this much confusion. My brake lights stayed on and killed the battery. I found little broken pieces of plastic on my floor mat but with the above picture I was able to buy the cushion and fix it in about 10 minutes ! THANK YOU !!!

Default Thank You

Thank You for posting this. I have a 1999 400GS and luckily saw the brake lights staying on I called Lexus Naples Florida and they had the part I need in stock and I fixed it in their car park.

The only tip and can pass on is I found it helpful to put a piece of tape on my finger and stick the pad to my finger to position it.

Hope this helps

Graeme
