Default Mileage back to normal?

I used to attribute the loss to the local Costco station, but now it is appearing with other sources as well. One possibility is that more local stations have increased their ethanol percentage to the maximum.....unlikely? Is it possibly engine related? Could I need new plugs, cleaning or tune up? Anyone else have similar mileage drop?
A month or so after my last post, my highway mileage seems to be back to normal. However, I can't come up with an explanation for the temporary drop. During a fourteen hour trip on the Interstates, averaging around 75 MPH, I was again back to a little over 23 MPG. Local mileage was still a little low, but the main variable there is my wife's driving, who tends to be heavier on the gas and brake. Much too many variables to use local driving as an indicator of mileage. I still thinks gas source and quality can be a very big factor in mileage calculations, particularly if it is bad gas.

Now here's a question...Are these 3rd Gen. RX350's designed to tolerate ethonol blends common now in low test gas????

thats boloney they did not remap the ecm for lower octane fuel. its used as a selling advantage and that's it. nothing more.

I purchased a 2014 CPO 350 last year with 9,000 miles on the clock. The first tank of regular ugly delivered 17 mpg and the car was sluggish. I ran a tank of gas with fuel system cleaner thru it and the mpg went up to 21 in town with a big improvement in performance. Since then I am careful to only use top tier gas and use a cleaner at least every 5000 miles. I am averaging 21 in town and have seen 26-27 on the highway as long as the speed is below 70. Above that the mpg drops to around 23. These care are not meant to be mileage champs. My wife's 2013 450H gets nearly the same on the highway, but delivers 30-31 in town. We love both cars and will drive them till they wear out. I hate the change Lexus made in the 2016 RX!!!!!!!

I have a 2015 AWD with 35Kish miles, and I'm seeing 21-23 highway (75mph), and consistent 19-20 city. Combined is usually at the 22 mark for the week, with 60% of the driving being on the highway, and not a lot of stop and go in town. To say the least, better than the 17mpg I was getting in my 2013 4Runner!!

It happened to me on a long trip out west. After filling tank in Nebraska my MPG dropped from 24 to 19. After the next fill, the MPG went back to 24. I am guessing I got a tank of bad gas that one time.

consider yourself lucky. Your numbers are the best I've just about ever heard. I've had both vehicles. Nowhere even close to your numbers. My RX350 was a horrid 13 mpg. My current 450h is at around 26-27. I'm happy with the 450. Both numbers are city. I drive normal and try for best mpg. But-- these numbers are the best I've had. I know three others with RX 350's. All turned in because of bad mpg. Most were about 15 mpg.

After a little over a year of ownership, our 2013 AWD has an average MPG of 18.5 and we're in NJ. My best was 20.9 and our lowest was around 16 in the winter, and we've been getting better mileage as of late. Driving is a mix of suburbs and hilly local highways.

Default You may not be far off.

If by average, you mean the average of the computed mileages between fill ups, then you may not be far off. The "Average" shown on the panel computer is a useless computation, and should be ignored. "Mileage after fill up" is the only accurate figure to use. That being said, the mixture of highway and local driving has too many variables to produce a meaningful mileage figure. For me, the only meaningful mileage is the computation done completely on interstate driving. Even then, it will be affected by hilly terrain and speed.
My 2013 FWD should get slightly better than your AWD. My highway (interstate) driving has been a fairly consistent 23-24 MPG, for over 60K miles. However, my local driving has ranged from 15 MPG to around 18 MPG, depending on type of driving, conditions......and who is driving. Your 18.5 for mixed driving in a hilly area might not be far off. Next time you take a long trip, check the interstate mileage.

My 2014 RX 350 is getting around 20-21mpg in traffic here in ATL. I will usually see 25-26 on the interstate running at 70-75 MPH. I always use regular gas. About every six months I will run a tank with a fuel system cleaner added. This replaced a Honda Accord V6 that got 35 highway and the trade off is worth it. I love this car. My wife has a 2013 450H that delivers 28 MPG in town and will do 30 if we don't get over 75 MPH. It has 75,00 miles on it and still has the original brake pads on it. We will probably drive these cars till they wear out! After all they are both Toyotas in nicer clothing!!

Default Rx350 2010 fuel consumption

I have been reading the fuel and mpg thread and i have some questions. How accurate is the odo computer ?
My mpg are nowhere like other rx driver.
My computer is alway showing 18-19 L/100 km so this is 12-13 mpg which is very low IMO.
is there anyway to reset it ? I cant imagine what will be my mileage in winter lol.

What your getting is about right. I was getting 9-11 in cold weather. Never got any better. I traded it in on a Hybrid. Don't believe everything you read on mpg being 20-24+ it's not going to happen. Good luck

most of what ive found online was 19-20 mpg or 12-13 L/100.
I dont think your 9-11 mpg or my 12-13 are normal.

I have found the computer to be very accurate on my 2013 RX. However, make sure you are looking at the "milage after fill up", and not the "average". I don't know where the "average" figure comes from, but it has never given any significant data for me the entire time I have owned the car. The "milage after fill up", on the other hand, seems to be very accurate, and also resets itself automatically after each fill up.
That being said, 12-13 mpg seems low, but could be correct if you do a lot of local, and stop and go driving, or are on the gas and brake pedals alot. I normally get 15-18 mpg local, and 23+ mpg on the interstates, but have gotten as low as 14 mpg local.
