Default FEELER: My 2014+ bumpers for your 2013s?

Im close to committing to a new GX. I'm required by work to have a new (or very slightly used 2015-2016). I'm partial to the 2010-2013 bumpers but can't buy those year GXs (too old...dumb, I know (it's not a good problem to have)). I came across this thread after some google searches and found that swapping the bumpers may not be that difficult. As long as someone with the older and someone with the newer both agree...it should be tit for tat with minimal costs associated right?

so, my question is...if I do end up getting a '15-'17 GX can I count on one of you guys to swap bumpers, grill, and headlights with me?

Im in North Florida and would be willing to travel a little to make this work. I haven't locked down a specific vehicle yet so I don't know what color bumpers I'll have to offer or what color I'll need.

as the title states...this is just a feeler and just want to gauge interest.

thanks,

the Colonal

What a weird thread.

I'm pretty sure swapping the entire front end from a '12 or '13 to a '15 - '17 is a lot more work than you're thinking it will be, but I'll be interested to see if you get any takers. I personally thought I liked the older front end better as well, but the new one has REALLY grown on me on my truck. Plus the LED headlights and foglights are better than the older HID ones.

Hahaha...thanks . It does seem a bit nutty but it's been done and can't imagine it being super difficult headlights, bumpers, brackets, piece here piece there. Too much work, maybe...just thought I'd throw it out there.

Couldve easily resulted in mass replies of dudes saying "oh heck man...my uncle done did this to two of my cousins cars...he lives right down the street and is dying for some new style bumpers!".

Ive seen it a thousand times.

Also, thanks for responding and your thoughts on the new bumpers. They've grown on me a little bit too but I'm concerned about the approach/departure angles. We off-road quite a bit and this GX would absolutely double as my Trail/Camp truck. Coming from a 5th Gen 4Runner Trail...clearance is slim on the newer GX.

If you have both vehicles and both owners are in agreement and have the technical skills ( I know I do) then this is a very easy job. Also the Hood and Fenders are identical on both years so no need to swap those.

Sure thing! Approach angles with the newer front end do suck, but that's why God invented lifted suspension components.

yeah, but the new spindle grille would require a higher lift than the 2010-2013. This would make it more awkward looking than It already is.

So that's a member on the GXOR Facebook page, and is sadly not my rig.

I've got a silver 2014 and I'm hoping to mimic the look, which is why I've got those pics saved on my 'puter.

That being said, dude's wife has PM'd me a bunch of info about it, and told me the lift is 4" front, 3" rear (she didn't remember what brand they went with, but she's trying to find out), 20" Fuel Diesel wheels, 285/55/20 Toyo Open Country RT tires, and the rack is the Thule Trail XT roof basket (size large) with factory crossbars.
