Default Old School VS New School

Went to the beach this weekend and park right next to me was a New RX . Would I trade my 01 RX for a new RX ? Not a chance.. The new RX just doesn't strike the right cord in my opinion like the Iconic RX 300.

Happy motoring gang

One has to like the lines and the spindle grill of the newer model ... but that is just the looks.

Then there are differences below the skin and pretty quickly one has to admit the transformation over the years has been substantial.

I look at another factor, back then RX had hardly any serious competition and now the RX is still the champion but in middle of the road. [not a leader in these fields ... performance, off-roading, comfort, total package].

Agreed Salim

There is no question the new RX has all the new safety Features the older RX lack but with ABS, VSC, HID lights, dual Air bags in the the RX 300, I think part of owing these cars are you have to love the look of the car. The Spindle grill is nice on many of the Lexus line but on certain models, it is still not quite there in my opinion.

Spindle grill is a joke. Why have aggressive body lines if the rest of the car is an ultimate understeering machine?

the new safety features are a joke too. The parking sensor beep a full second after you approach the warning area. There is a huge delay before they actually start to beep. so, in order for you to use it, you really have to approach the parking slot like a AARP member. The blind spot monitor's "blind spot" is so large that almost two cars can fit into these "area." It's useless in busy Los Angeles traffic.

The interior width (not the outside width of the car) is actually narrower on the gen 3 RX vs. Gen 1 (don't know about the gen 4). See this thread below.

The stereo simply blows. I had to replace the tweeters with normal aftermarket stuff (Infinity) and they sounded a little better. I, then, went ahead and changed the mid ranges also and it sounded about 90% of what the Gen 1 stereo sounded like.

Worst down grade of all are the front seats. Lexus really cheap'ed out on the seats. Check out this thread. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...d-threads.html

Were it not for the huge rush of torque from the hybrid combo engine on my current RX450h, I'd have gone to another brand.
