That's not a bad price at all. I hope dealer here can do it for that price. Being in San Jose, everything is expensive LOL
I experienced the "calculating" on the right side a few days ago and may look into this update as the last one too.

It might be a few dollars more on the tax as that recently went up again but dealer quoted me $169 for the maps and $70 labor.

Wow! That's only $350 CAD. Good thing mine was "paid for"

I am getting this done tomorrow so was just reading the TSB again on how it was done and noticed the 1394 cable in upgrade document going somewhere under driver's dash. I had assumed they loaded map update via the center console USB port but that is not the case. There is a 1394 Firewire connector under the dash. I know terrible pics... it was hard enough for me to get under there and take pics. :-) Port cover says MAP on it.

Edit: looks to be a 1394b FireWire 800 connector

I got system updated today. The firmware did fix the issue I had with playing music files way down the list with my iPhone while connected with USB.

I had this USB Box check before going in. Memory CLR doesn't make it go away. USB port charges and plays music so I can't say there is an issue it is causing me. Either my use of iPhone or the listed Multimedia Interface ECU which is probably the NAV unit. Might need to try another USB device and see if that changes anything as well.

On the EMVN check that one wasn't there before updates but as far as I can tell everything is working fine and was probably generated at map load time today. Just speculation though.

Anyone else with a '10-'13 seeing greens on all 4 of items listed when doing a System Check?

Quick tip... I went back in and held the "Code CLR" button down for 5-10 seconds and that finally reset both errors. I'll check later to see if they show up again. I had to do a "Recheck" before "OK" in blue showed up next to affected items.

EDIT: Probably well known by long term Lexus users but for any new owners rep told me new map releases for the year usually come out in October.

EDIT: Probably lucky I didn't hold Memory CLR as it might have factory reset the Infotainment unit. Disregard that piece in my earlier post.

Just a bump on this thread... someone on GXOR messaged me if they knew why their Infotainment unit was locking up. I suggested this and good to know for any '10-'13 owner who sees any of these symptoms. Unfortunately you will need to drop a couple bills at the dealer to get it fixed. No end user firmware update for these years.

Paying for anything more than labor is a rip off.
the software update doesn't cost the dealer a dime.

It should be a 1 hour labor charge and that's it. They are still acting like it's a disc that has to be purchased.

True... unfortunately if you are afflicted by any issues in my post there isn't any other way to address than to pay up or just live with it. There could be some licensing costs with the maps as well. One could likely ask for just the firmware update too and then it should be just an hour of labor.

My Lexus dealer charges $160/hour so at that point might as well throw the maps on as well.

I use 8gb usb thumb drive with mp3, the folder up/down select usually very slow(like freezing) and sometimes it would displace the folder lists(there are about 50 or more folders). My GX is '10 and no firmware/map update. Should go ahead to do the update of map+firmware? Did the firmware update add the support of FLAC format(on top of MP3)? Besides, did anyone use TOYOTA dealer to the job(other than recall and cut the key)?

I had freezing issues with my iPhone that were addressed. I’ve never used generic storage on mine

I’ve not tested for FLAC

I just dropped it off for the map update this morning (and get a RX350 as loaner). I experience intermittent issue where it automatically switch mode from AM to FM to USB etc...and the volume suddenly increased. I hope this would fix it, it anything this will be the last time I will update the map.

Map data update will only update the map data, such as new roads, POI, and previous error corrections. Don't think it will update the Nav/Radio (Multimedia ECU) system software.

Everyone so far who has gotten map updates on 10-13 has also received this update. TSB also states this needs to be applied if you are updating maps.

That’s what I thought too. I hope it will be done in the process without having to specify mentioning the TSB.
Interestingly, I was at the dealer for about 2 hours on Friday and about an hour today and saw alot of cars came in and NONE of them are GX. Alot of ES and RX.
