That crossed my mind, but I am thinking that the glove box button would prevent all operation. Not sure about that. The OP could use the top UP function and the windows would go up. It would make sense that the computer would only check the position of the cover when putting the top DOWN.
That's a common problem. When you push the OPEN button and the red light blinking, most likely either the trunk cover is retracted or the valet button is in ON position, or both.

to be honest I didn't watch his video, so I was only going by what was written.
If you think your problem is more severe than what has been covered so far, you can get a copy of techstream software so you can see what error codes are showing.
Do a search in this forum for techstream and it will tell you everything you know.
As I type this, it occurs to me you probably want to do a search for "Convertible" or "Top" first. There are two common errors that you hope will solve the problem and then a bunch of more serious errors that require techstream or a trip to the dealer.
Thanks Coleroad. I recently experienced this problem and when I first did a Google search, I was just coming across posts about reseating the cover in the trunk, as well as some posts about disconnecting the battery. I already had checked the former (several times), and didn't think it was the latter, since my battery had died (from sitting in storage) and I had just recharged it, but I was probably going to give that a shot, just in case. Today I searched again from home and this post was one of the first that came up. I didn't even know about this switch in the glove compartment. Pushed the button in and the top was working fine again. Thanks again!
