At one point or another, you will have to jack up your Lexus. Whether you want to change your own oil, or you are stuck with a flat tire, jacking up your car quickly and safely is valuable information.

Changing a flat is one thing, but, in most cases, one should not use a jack for actually doing work under the car. That's what ramps (and jack-stands) are for, though the low front overhangs on some vehicles make driving up onto the ramps tricky.
Did they collapse?......or the vehicle roll off of them? Glad you came out OK.
Most over-the-counter ramps sold at auto-parts stores are (usually) rated for around 4000-5000 lbs or so. I've used them myself on a number of occasions. Cheap, poorly-made ramps, though.....I agree, they aren't worth the risk.
I had one collapse. I was in high school and was driving a 1989 Firebird at the time. I kept having starters die about every 6 months. I got it up on ramps to change the starter once, and just as I was about to crawl underneath it, one of the ramps collapsed and the car came down. Firebirds in particular sit pretty low on the ground. I was home alone that weekend and wouldn't have been found for a few days.
