Confused About Window Trim Removal
#17
So i need to remove the same pieces (belt moulding/window trim) listed in the post above. I have photos of my problem which will be attached. I have the part numbers but I'm wondering if anyone can give a DIY to accomplish the removal of the QTR window trim of the rear seat? Is it easy or hard? Require taking apart the interior rear seat panel? Would like to know what to expect and plan my approach. As you can see from the photos, apparently when I had my car professionally detailed someone got overzealous with the rotary buffer. They even tried to cover their mistake with paint. It's been quite a while, so I can't point fingers at which detailer committed the crime, so no reimbursement. So I will hopefully just be able to replace the trim. Thanks in advance.

I'd love to replace those same rubber window trims outside the two doors and the two rear quarter panel windows. Mine are in decent shape for their age but they could be replaced and look and function better. If someone manages to source the trim and get it replaced these place take some pics and post to the forum. Thanks

True, A303 is great stuff for protecting them from every day wear and tear and sun damage. As mine is ruined probably due to friction of a rotary buffer, I doubt A303 is the answer and thus am looking for directions on how to remove/replace the entire piece.

To get the outside door belt off you must first remove the interior door trim, then unscrew a retaining screw at the latch end of the door and lift up being mindful of the door paint.
The rear panel would require remove the rear seat components to get to the rear interior side panels.

Hi
ShawnOK,
I received The rear piece of the Door Belt for my Driver side. The part has no place for screws or Clips to attach to mount on Body of Car. I believe the worn part must pull off, probably upward with a Pry-Tool.
Not sure yet, will keep you posted!

Good News Mystery solved!
This is with the rear moulding removed, see the Goo!
This is the old Moulding I replaced, you can see the sealant lexus added!
New rear belt molding installed! All you do is push piece backdown onto the lip of car!
Also replace the front door moulding belt, I will show more pics and other findings on that install!
Hello Friends,
I have 2 different post's going, Wash Car alarm stops working and Door Trim removal. This is the findings for the trim removal of rear door belt "Good News" solved the Mystery ;-) ShawOK, you will be happy;-)
To remove the back Moulding trim, all you do is lift up the Moulding starting from the front where the drivers door Belt Moulding ends! That easy! After removing you will notice a black Sealant that helps keep that piece sealed!
Before installing new moulding, i put some 3M Black Seal on top of the lip of the Car! Before installing, I put my finger in between the slot of that moulding, low and behold, Lexus already has a stick black sealant allured installed for you!!!!
So you do not need to add any more sealant, hence iI left extra sealant on since I already had put a small bead down!
See pics..
Check out the other thread on my car wash issue, good news there also!
Thanks!

I just did this today and made a video on how to do it. It's on YouTube right now.
This shows how to remove and replace the door belt moulding and quarter belt moulding on both driver and passenger side of the SC430.

And the Oscar goes to Black Bart for his emotional portrayal of a loving SC430 owner who decides to take a few years off his aging car using nothing more than money, pliers, and tape...... We look forward to his starring role in the upcoming sequel; "Let's get those door trims off"

First, I'd like to thank the academy, and of course, all the fans, because without you, none of this would be possible!
