Default Removing Speed Limiter

Does anyone know about a way to remove the factory speed limiter in the IS500? During some spirited driving on an empty road (in Mexico) I was limited to 150mph despite the car feeling fully capable of doing more.

Dude, we need to talk about your forum posts. You should never put stuff like this in writing, unless you are recounting a tale that your good friend told you about his driving, or if you would like to speak in hypotheticals. If I were you I would delete this post.

Spuds - You will have to edit yours too as you quoted his post so even if he deletes it, you threw him under the bus (lol)

There should be 4 plastic tabs on the bottom of the plexiglass behind the steering wheel. Remove those to access the tachometer. Now smash it. If you want a cleaner look that the dealer won't notice, you can twist the bezel counter clockwise (the part that slides) and it should pull right out. Either way will remove the speed limit.

In all seriousness, let's say you were on a track (in Mexico, or whatever) and you hit the long straightaway and got up to the maximum speed, in a totally-legal way. As far as I know, you would need to get the vehicle tuned to remove the speed limiter. This has been done on IS F and RC F cars before.

Gonna need a pretty long straightaway to get to 155 MPH in this car.

Right, our cars are so very slow.

On track at Road Atlanta, we got up to about 130 on the back straight in LC 500s. I bet you if we were actually pushing the car hard, we could've gone even faster. But, it was a pretty long straight, so you have a fair point.

Not at all what I was implying. We had a local track that had a mile long straightaway, and even then, not a lot of cars went above 155 MPH by the time they had to brake.

Right, that's what I was alluding to in the second half of my post. LC 500 is similar power to our cars, so a pretty good litmus test. Road Atlanta's back straight is pretty above-average in length. So I am agreeing with you... But I had to poke fun at how it sounded like you were implying "this car" is not all that quick.
