Default 2006 Headlamps vs 2007-2010 Headlamps

I searched the forum but didn't find an answer

Is there a difference between the 8/2005 -08/2006 headlamps vs 07 and beyond headlamps? The part numbers are different 81140-24150 for 2006 and 81140-24151 for 2007 -, however all of the other related parts are exactly the same.

Thank you

Kevin

My understanding is that they are the same.

Hi Kevin,
I would contact your local Lexus dealer parts person and ask the question.
I looked them up and the lexus website says they both fit my 2007. But the first number didn’t fit a 2010, 81140-24150

I had the same question for a local Lexus dealer since I have an 06 that was manufactured in the 8/05-8/06 window and wanted to confirm fitment. (I have driver side headlamp that has a broken tab and was considering replacing the lamp) Believe it or not, the counter guy did not want to give me the part number. His reason was so I couldn't go to the internet and source it for cheaper. He looked it up and then saw the lamp was no longer available and therefore could not sell it to me. He then gave me the part number. Stealership defined!

i have never had an experience like that with the dealer i use.
You can also look up a part on a dealer website and it will confirm you have the correct part for your car using the year make and model or just plug in your VIN.

I'm really curious now. Please update if you find out from the dealership what is different, or why there are 2 part numbers.

That's just terrible behavior at your dealership. Where in NJ ? There is a Lexus dealership that will remain unnamed on Rt 17 north in Bergen Cty ( situated right next to a Toyota dealership and across the street from a BMW dealership, to help those who know Rt 17 ) that has its own online sales portal. I bought my OEM motor mounts and tranny mounts from them via online sales at 30 to 35% off list price and they allowed me to show up and pick up the items at the dealership, no shipping charges, 5 mins from my house. Parts guy there helped me with part numbers in the past too. So you help me and I send business your way via online sales. That's the way to do it.

@Rayzerr, PM me the name of the badly behaved dealer please so I know never to go there.

Same here in 7/24. Sewell in Dallas was top shelf as usual. I got much better help and the guy told me, based on my VIN number: and based on my month of manufacturer .. the 24150 would fit .. the 24151 was for later dates. It might fit the frame but the cables would not connect and some functions might not work is what the Sewell guy told me; we talked for a spell.. in some places I found info that stated the 24151 would not fit my 2006.. other place listed the 24150 available, but when I called they said it was Discontinued.. No longer available, click bait I guess. So I am stuck.. til I can find a used one.. how they tell without the number on the part I don't know if they can. My lens was crunched, cracked with the clear lens beyond repair.. I am going thru junk yards online.. ANYBODY know of one please message or send me a quote. I am going to start a thread with my problem..

A lot of different information coming from dealerships, members, etc.. Sewell Dallas told me the 81070-24151: based on my VIN number which indicated the date of manufacturer, would not fit my 2006 mfg'd in Sept 2005 .. I found a notice that indicated the 81070-24151 was for 2007. I gotta go with guy at Sewell.. and I did find on Forum that a harness on the 2006 was too short for the 24151 ..I am trying to find the thread.

Wow...$2,200 for a single headlight assembly? I hope I never need one (or two)!

Bgw70 .. thank you very much.. I am dealing with the repair people and insurance company. I will most likely order it today and get 20% off. My experience with Japanese companies has been outstanding.. and it was delivered the next day. I will sing your praises and pour a small libation in your honor. W.W.

My sentiment exactly. I am curious what the insurance company is gonna say when I tell them the parts are discontinued; no Lexus dealer in the USA has the part; and Joe's Salvage Yard is still looking. . I suppose they could total my car. I will be in touch with the forum. I will get a 20% discount if I order by tomorrow at the latest. It all depends on the pictures and what the shop's estimate..
