Default Toyota recalling some V35A '22 - '23 Tundra and Lexus LX Vehicles

https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-...s-lx-vehicles/

Doesn't state anything about the GX so fingers crossed it has the 'fix' from factory

Well if that is case, I'm guessing they changed there procedures fairly quickly after figuring out the issue.

Problem is the 102,000 that it may effect I'm not sure there will be a solution outside of warranty on the engine main bearing failure for like 200,000 miles or 20 years or something.

There is zero way of telling that I'm aware with out tearing down the motor. I'm guessing the machining debris clogs an oil line leading to the main bearing failure.

Toyota should step up and just warranty the engine for 15 years or something ridiculously long

Keeping fingers crossed on GX550 too. If I go forward with purchase I will probably send Blackstone Labs samples from oil changes just to see what's going on. They keep a database of various models for comparison. For $35 it can't hurt.

They did better than that. They agreed to replace the entire engine.

It is good to see that Toyota is stepping up and doing the right thing by replacing the engines in the affected vehicles. I believe that the outcry over this problem was a wake up call. Toyota/Lexus loyalists expect quality and reliability in their vehicles and let Toyota know it loud and clear.

Potential V35A bearing issue also on the 550

Is it possible to determine a date that would suggest (with reasonable logic) any V35A engines produced after this time would have been done using whatever correction Toyota has made? I am assuming once they announced the recall, engines after that time would not have the potential problem?

Toyota's fix is simple: it will replace the engine in the affected vehicles. It plans to notify customers of affected vehicles by mail by the end of July 2024, and it points out that the Tundra models included in the recall were built between November 2, 2021, and February 13, 2023. If you've got an LX, it's part of the recall if it was manufactured from July 30, 2021, to November 25, 2022.

So if I understand this right, the GX 550 is not affected?

The Care Care Nut had the best explanation for this, including whether the GX would be impacted.

I didn't catch where he mentioned the GX? Maybe I missed it. Do you have a timestamp?
