What is this hanging next to my muffler and how to I refasten it?

Default What is this hanging next to my muffler and how to I refasten it?

2013 GS 350 F sport

I see it's a heat shield. Am I going to be able to refasten it myself or what's involved here? Thanks

haha yeah thanks for that. Where exactly is this heat shield supposed to go? Around the top of the muffler?

Yes, the heat shield mounts over top of the muffler. Part # 16 for example in the image below.

LOL That's my thread! Ramps make your life much easier. You need to drop the mufflers off the hangers to get access. Go slow as you may break some of the bolts that hold the heat shield in place. Mine were so rusty I broke 3 bolts. I was able to fashion new bolts using anchor bolts. Good luck!

Too much salt or brine on the roads up north rusting out vehicles!
