Transmission fluid seeping through rust near drain plug
I had my transmission fluid changed recently (due to some harder shifts on 1 and 2). When the shop put the drain plug back and filled it up they noticed some fluid seeping through the rust spot right by the drain plug. New pan is needed. I have ordered one, but it seems they are on back order right from japan.
The issue is I really need my car till it gets here (probably a week away still). So I figured I would ask for suggestions on temporary fixes. I don't care at all about the pan, nor do I care about accessing the drain plug as the pan is getting replaced.
I am open to all back yard mechanic solutions. I have had the thought of just buying like 2 cans of rocker guard or flex seal rubbers spray and seeing if I can just build up a barrier so it will keep it from seeping for the next week. or maybe jb welding a thin metal patch over the whole recessed area of the drain plug and once that small area is filled it will not be able to seep any more...?
The fix will be 100% temporary as I already have the new pan on order. Who has some terrible great ideas?
Perhaps using one of the following products can be used / applied around 14mm drain bolt as a temporary solution until new transmission pan is installed;
