Default Taking engineering to the next level

Leave it to Lexus. Yes boys and girls the picture below is of a 12v 0.167a fuse that Lexus uses as the light for the vanity mirror. WoW, lets not use a light bulb.....lets re-purpose a fuse, Got It.

Well it is a simple design and easy to replace.
This is the footwell light.

Not a "repurposed" fuse, but a light.

Those have been around since the 60's.

Called a "cartridge lamp".

Replace it with a LED bulb

Yep - when I originally read the OP, I was confused. Fuses don't light up

Actually a fuse will light up (briefly!) if you force enough current through it.
