Does insurance REALLY cost this much???
Hey guys,
so I recently made the switch from an 05 C6 Corvette to a 22 NX 350 F sport and am having a coronary at how it's apparently raised my insurance by $100 a month. Been with AAA for 13 years, no accidents, tickets or infractions. The agent says "it's because it's a newer car," which doesnt seem logical to me (safer, parts are more readily availible and I believe Lexus/Toyota is rated much higher in reliability and safety than GM). I looked at Geiko too, they're the exact same quote of 230/month. How is it possible, to go to a car with half the HP, tripple the safety features, it's not a cop magnet, only a 4 cylinder and yet cost so much more in insurace. I'm just at a loss for words here, doesnt make any sense.

Shop around. I've been with state farm switched to geico, then to costco, and now proably back to state farm in 8 years. My current policy for my 22 NX is $1200/yr.

State Farm in Florida ...went from not bad to insane. I think every insurance company will increase the premiums... the storms, claims, are effecting premiums. Insurance companies have a million excuses/reasons to increase our rates. Shop but do not skimp...

Back to Florida... latest premium is $1260 for 6 months. It has been going up 20-30% each renewal. We have multiple cars.

My 450h+ F sport that I just got this month costed between 1,700-1,900 for six months depending between a few companies I compared quotes and some of the options and coverage differences I customized (I didn’t go with the bare minimum). But of course its probably a bit higher for me as I moved from out of country with no previous driving record. Too high but no choice. Hopefully the next 6 months it’ll go down as I’m a great driver or I’ll just switch.

It may be that they are seeing more claims from NX owners than they are from C6 owners.

Gonna check out state farm and every other one. I should've given more details too, in CA they upped Mike to $1441 for 6 months at AAA. And while I'm not skimping on coverage I did have them all plug in the minimum coverage, which saved me a cool 30 clams for the year.
This can't be right, the difference in some of these quotes in this thread, unless those with the bunk ones committed manslaughter, many times.

I just went from a 2022 Hyundai Tucson to a 2025 NX350h. My 6 month premium only went up about $50 to around $720 with State Farm. I had shopped around earlier this year. I’ve been with State Farm for years but often I would find cheaper car insurance only to figure out that the homeowners would increase so much as to negate any savings from the car insurance. I don’t remember what I was paying for insurance 2-3 years ago but I think everyone is just experiencing significant increases.

I have a 2022 350h luxury and my insurance (full coverage) is $483.45 every six months. Of course, I only drive 4000 miles a year so that probably has something to do with that.

In SE Wisconsin, ours has increased primarily due to massive increases in vehicle theft and destruction, by gangs who do it for either selling them in Chicago, or just joyriding at crazy speeds (75mph in a 25mph zone for instance) until they hit or kill people, then they run and are never caught. If they are caught, they are typically released on a signature bond, to go do it again.
