Default Grille/Radiator Protection

For my last car (2021 MB GLC) it was fairly easy to install a fine mesh behind the lower bumper to protect the lower radiator against rock chips and debris. I would like to do the same thing for the new IS 500 but cannot find a good and/straightforward way to do this without taking off the bumper. I have a mesh that I would use but installing it seems like a pain. Has anyone done this as a DYI project? If so, how hard is it and how difficult is it to get behind the bumper? Thanks for the feedback!

Mesh will restrict airflow. Don't do stupid things.

This post shows how to install the community fix for the bumper separation by removing one side of the bumper. I'd imagine if you just did both sides removing the bumper probably would not be a problem. But if I am wrong I hope someone corrects me.

That being said, as someone mentioned it might restrict airflow or cause the separation to be exacerbated, but I'm also not an expert. I'm sure you did your due diligence on any modifications you want to do to your vehicle.

Airflow restriction from a protective mesh isn't a major concern. That being said the openings on this car aren't excessive to begin with and the risk isn't as severe as it is with cars like the new GT500, C8 corvettes, or 911's that all have numerous coolers located up front under behind the bumper. In order to put any mesh like this in place though you would have to fully remove the front bumper to insert the mesh unlike your previous SUV.
