Question Recommended oil type for extremely high temperatures?

Hello guys, I am actually moving to the Middle East and in fact I am bringing my 2018 GS 350 (replaced the older 2014) with me. I am moving in with my dad who also has a US-import Lexus LS 460, and my question is about oil weight. So all throughout the US from MN to Houston they recommend a 0W-20. But this type of oil is basically inaccessible, furthermore in the ME they provide a 0W-40 for the LS 460. My question is that will this type of oil be safe for the GS? My Dad has not had any problems with this thicker oil, and temperatures often reach 110-125F from May-August. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I believe another GS member here, mostafa1989 lives in Dubai with a GS350, perhaps he might be able to provide what oil type he uses in his GS.

I recall reading in my owners manual at some point, that you could also use 5W-30 in warmer climates, though I don't know if that would suffice for the ME temp levels.

If 0W-20 is not available in your area of the Middle East then 0W-30 (if available) or 5W-30 or 0W-40 is okay. I would prefer a 0W first number oil to get the lubrication flowing through the system as quickly as possible.

The second number (after the W) is the weight of the oil at the typical operating oil temperature of 100°C (212°F). The first number (before the W) will always be thicker at startup or room temperature than practically any weight oil at typical operating temperature. In other words, 0W-[any number] will be thicker at startup than straight 40 or 50 weight oil for instance when hot (100°C/212°F).

I mostly agree with you, but one thing. As we say if it was me, I would do the 5-30. Thinking about what you said at 110 - 125 degrees, the Oil will still be thin even in a cold not warm engine. Same as if it was in a only 15 degree temp on start up the oil will be cold and thick.

I think we would both agree that in any other situation the 0-20 would be what Lexus said. I would also look for a oil with a high shearing and flash point. Not that it would boil, but....
