Question Cost effective Safe Way to Raise the Car

Rookie DIYer here, Thinking of getting under the car, but somehow the way in which jack stands are used to raise the car looks scary.
I found this cost effective way of raising the car, Yes it looks primitive, but somehow I feel it is a much robust option for DIYers who occasionally want to get under the car.
Thoughts or Any other ideas? Please share.

One disadvantage I see with this method is not being able to freely spin the wheel, if need be.

Be absolutely sure that you set the parking brake before jacking up the car.

I am not a fan of jacks and jack stands. I refuse to get under the car.

With my Mercedes ML truck, I bought two 2x8 pieces of wood and cut them in half. Then I laid them on top of each other and placed them in the front of both tires- I drove the car up on top of the wood. It gave my just enough clearance to get under the car to drain the oil and differential fluid. I probably could have placed 3 pieces of wood on each other but I had enough clearance to do what I needed to do.

That's a lot of clearance in the video. I think 3 2x8 should give you enough room to do basic maintenance. it depends on what you're trying to do

Car Ramp is another option:

Jack stands are totally fine. What you do is you add secondary protection in case jack stands fails. For example, it you climbing in the front, you could use floor jack as a redundant support in case jacks fail. Or you can buy extra pair of jacks, and put them under axel as a secondary safety measure. The redundancy in safety is what you need.

Another nice simple jack option if one needs to remove wheels and work on breaks etc.

Yes, but parking brakes are generally very wimpy - I would do a super chocking job.
