really nice cars but updates seem very minor. and the long list of options can make an optioned car very pricey. $750 for a tow hitch? lol
It's a good deal when you see what it comes with, it adds a bunch of stuff to the cars suspension and body controls to accommodate a trailer and control it well. They also have roof racks that integrate and change the ESP profile when connected etc....
Updates are "meh" as you said, nothing really new or exciting hardware wise.

That's not an unusual price at all. Tow hitch on the current RX is $870. For the TX it's $1,390. Even on the lowly Bronco Sport it's $800.
I paid almost $500 way back when for just the OE hitch part for our 2007 RX350, would have been close to $1000 had I just taken it to the dealer to have them order and install. The car already had the $160 tow prep package, and then I still had to buy a hitch bar and ball. So all in I was close to $750 doing the install myself, 15+ years ago.
I agree with your first comment though, these models are getting very long in the tooth. This will be the 10th year of the 4M Q7.
Yeah, definitely a small upgrade (the second refresh in this generation!). And like I said, I wouldn't upgrade if I already had one of this generation. But for those who are looking for a new luxury SUV, these drive really well. Better than Lexus, I'd argue.
Then again, which one would I risk owning outside of a warranty, that's a different story, hahaha.

Ours has been great for 8 years. Only issue of any kind is a consistent 1qt/2,000 miles oil consumption, which is incredibly common on the CREC supercharged V6 and not necessarily indicative of a problem.

that's good to hear. I guess I've just seen too many mechanic youtube videos of poorly maintained variants given up just after 100K miles.

I totally would. Way easier to work on and better designed while driving in a totally different leagues.....plus it will be FAR more reliable than the LX600 or GX550s auto detonating engine.
of course YOU would, you're a professional auto mechanic with tons of audi experience.
low blow
I mean the fact is I have seen enough high mike post 2010 Audis now that it's honestly shocking seeing how many are sailing past 200k without issues. The early stuff is hell but the newer is crazy good somehow, just had a 207k mile 2011 A8 come in for its first set of control arms......
An LS would be on set 3 or 4 by then. The other real consideration is the Audis are just so much better to drive and offer a way better experience at the top level, mid tier junk like a Q5 no but at the top level yes.
