oil filter
What oil filters are you using?
I like using Genuine Toyota parts, but heard that the Toyota filter is a high flow filter. This means it allow larger particles to pass through than filters that are not engineered to enable high flow rates. If the story is true, why does Toyota favour high flow rates?
More so when 0W20 oil is specified. Unfortunately the specs for Toyota filters are not available. There are not many filter manufacturers who give the specs for their filters (oil filters, air filters). I tend to trust them more.
It seems the Toyota filters are made in Thailand (by Denso?).
Would be keen to hear if anyone has found a good filter and how many are using Toyota genuine.
Saw on Youtube that Extended Oil Change Interval oil filters are not good to use. It was said that they have large apertures to ensure they won't clog up when used for long intervals before changing. Maybe this is why (if true) Toyota filters are high flow (and don't trap the smaller particles), because Toyota interval is 15,000km.
I will probably go for 8,000km intervals with full synthetic ACI SP oil. Have not decided whether to use 0W20 or 5W30. Change oil every 8000km/7,5000km. Change filter every time or every second time?
Still deciding between Valvoline and Toyota oil.
