Default Can I place floor jack under rear differential?

Hi there..
I am about to change my rear brakes on 17' gs350 awf f sport.
i hhave2 heavy duty 6 tons floor Jack's for my truck.
I have a question . Can I place floor jack under rear differential and lift it , and then place jack stands under weld spots on the sides?

And the other question will this type of jack stand will it bent welding points ? Can I place a rubber puck on this jack stands ? Or it will break ?

as you van see there isba gap between rubber puck and jack base .. just winder if it will bend rubber and break?

They usually make rubber boots for jack stands that have slits already. Depending where you are, you might even be able to get some delivered today or tomorrow via Amazon.

Harbor freight has some for there 3 ton Daytona Jack but not their 6 ton, for some reason. Maybe 6 tons would surpass the capacity of the rubber.

Someone posted a vid on here of a guy jacking his GSF up using a puck that ended very badly. I'd shy away from it.

You can use the rear diff as a jacking point.

However, try to use a proper "pinch weld adapter" eg a rectangular surface pinch weld adapter like below:
FRAME RAIL JACK ADAPTERS (phase2motortrend.com)

In the photo above, the cylindrical silicone puck may be "unstable", because it doesn't seem to fit as stably on the jack stand.
Without a pinch weld adapter, the jack stand will bend and flatten your pinch rails.

Diff is a great jack point - use common sense and logic. It’s tied into the whole suspension and power system. It will take and hold the weight of the car.

Once I lift a car, I do NOT place a jack on a point that is not designed to take the weight of the corner of the car, or longitudinal frame rail. It’s easy enough to look underneath at suspension points, such as lower control arms, or their joints to the sub-frame, and see what can take the weight of the car. If you are not skilled enough to do that, which is fair - I was not at one point - do NOT put a jack on a pinch weld or part of the frame between the rear and front that you are not 100% confident will take the weight. Don’t do it. Call, ask, Google, or post for help.

I’m manic about safety wrt to this. I have this GS lifted RN down by the garage. Even the ramps in back have steel jacks as back-ups under the rear suspension points. In the front, I have not two, but four steel jacks on susension and frame points (some not in touch bearing weight, but able to catch it). The one jack visible is on a molded frame rail, not a pinch-weld on the side.

Do not f’around with safety here. Do not trust frame points, go put stands under substantial suspension parts front/rear. Use spares. I have about six or eight pair of steel jacks - go get extras at yard sales or off craigslist. Don’t not be safe on this.

Sure, you can lift the car from the diff. I use a sturdy 20x20 cm reinforced rubber pad to protect the diff from any damage.
Just be sure to place wheel chocks on the front tires to prevent the vehicle from rolling forward.

Thank you all for a help. Yes I was able to lift by rear differential and placed floor Jack's under weld points , with out rubber puck. And surprisingly it didn't bent at all.

Guy didn't know how to jack up a car and placed the jack on the rocker panel.
