Nakamichi Amp Differences
This Post is about the Nakamichi Radio Setup that some of us are clinging to.
Amp Part numbers as Goes
86280-24120 92-95
86280-24190 94-99
86280-24220 98+
But all amps with all years since the same 3 cables
My AMP is slowly making the whining sounds but not often so im getting the signs. I got an amp 86280-24190 as a spare and i just plugged it in today and it's a WORLD of difference compared to the 220. The 190 has higher mids, softer lows and stong highs, vocals are pushed a bit but can sound a harsh depending on how well the master of the track is. I listen to drum & bass, deep house, jazz, and a mix of alot of the things and sound tuning is completely different compared to the 220. The 220 has stronger bass (Like rattle the car), the vocal aren't pushed as much, but this depends if you have stock speakers or not (i have JL Audio C2-400X in all four corners) the mids are pronounced and its just an overall modern tuning that supports todays music. If anyone has the nak system still, get a 220 amp, you experience will significantly change, even if you have blown or lower quality speakers. So the main thing i noticed even though i dont have a first gen amp to test is the tuning is main difference. So if you're looking for an amp 220 is the way the go.
