Is the base 4 cylinder engine really that bad?
Looking to buy a 2024 premium rx350 for my wife and super hesitant given all the complaints about the unrefined nature of the new engine.

It’s a nice 4 cylinder turbo. Dual injection is a plus. V6s are a dying breed. Turbo 4 has stronger torque earlier in the rev range than the V6 so feels stronger.

If you're coming from a Gen 4 RX 350 (2016 - 2022 model years), the Gen 5 might well not impress you. After driving Gen 5 RXs both as service loaners and on an official test drive, it was a "no" for me. It's not terrible, just not as smooth a drive (for me) as the prior V6, with the added negative of having to use Premium unleaded; the Gen 4 RX350 V6, and prior Generations, have all run fine with Regular unleaded. Locally, Premium is a consistent 25% higher price for gas compared to Regular; we can easily afford it, but to do so for a less-pleasurable driving experience makes no sense to me.

Love everything about my 2024 Luxury RX360 with the 4cyl. It is quiet, smooth and strong. I'ver read elsewhere where owners of the previous generation wit 6cyl complained about it as well.
