Default Any Brake Difference on RX-350 F Sport?

Was simply wondering if the brakes are the same between the RX-350 and the RX-350 F Sport? I have local dealer looking for a Certified PreOwned RX-350 F Sport.

well. This is just my humble opinion. I traded my 2015 RX350 F for my 2022 RX350. The 2015 RX F had very quick grabbing and harsh braking. Whenever I stomped on the brakes in a panic stop, it grabbed so fast, it scared me. I hated those brakes. And no, it was an the ABS. I have not yet hit the brakes in a panic with my current 2022 RX 350, and would imagine, the brakes should be as normal.

It certainly would have been nice if Lexus had upgraded the f sport front calipers to 4 piston. I’m wondering if there is a Lexus or Toyota caliper that would swap in.

Do you feel that the brakes are weak or insufficient? Do you race your RX on a track?

Just my experience, but the brakes on my 2016 RX are great even when towing an unbraked 1500lb trailer with the car loaded with 5 people and the camping gears.

I did not go on mountain roads though.

OP, I believe all RX models have the same brakes. Regretfully they are mediocre according to most of the auto mags that reviewed the 4th gen RX, and I would have to agree.

What specifically do you find lacking? Don’t go by what magazine editors say. What is your actual experience…do you experience brake fade, or do you expect the vehicle to stop faster, or what?

From a braking system perspective: can the existing calipers lock the front tires up, if there were no ABS? (I suspect they can). If so, then that’s all the braking system can do. The friction between the car and the road is then entirely determined by the tires. Stickier tires would then brake the car faster (even with ABS on) and conversely lousy tires would take longer to brake (the tire is starting to skid sooner and the ABS is then doing its thing).

Now if there was brake fade after extensive braking (which I have not experienced but I don’t tow a trailer down mountains nowadays with this vehicle) then perhaps changing pads and/or calipers and/or rotors and/or different brake fluid might be warranted. But again, for me normal stop-and go freeway braking hasn’t shown brake fade to be a problem.

Having driven big, heavy pickup trucks for years, I accept that heavier vehicles with a higher center of gravity can’t quite offer the same braking performance as a lighter vehicle with a much lower center of gravity and ground effects.

I am really curious of the reason people are seeking upgraded brakes for the RX. Would you mind to share your reasoning?
