Default Lka

My 2011 LS460 has "Adaptive Cruise Control" and "Park Assist" but sadly it doesn't have "LKA".
Given the computers/software already in my car, is the LKA actually a software add-on to the existing hardware, i.e. Sensors??? I realize there are some interior control issues.

More than just software add-on. There is actual hardware for LKA.

Stereo camera, different windscreen, different set of headlights, couple of extra modules. Should I continue?

It appears you're close to orgasmic with your list - so there's more?

Length of expensive non-cuttable GVIF cable, modules that you have to buy new, as used ones will have old users data burned in already, oh, the cute and involved ADAS calibration procedure, that fails 95% of times even in ideal conditions. That's it, I'm spent lol
Oh, and your roof liner needs to be way different to accommodate that stereo camera and all extra wiring.

I've got LKA on my 12 and it's not really with the trouble. Does not do much steering, very light, but does hold on wide turns. Main use is the alarm when it goes over the line and easier going straight.
On that note you would also need the driver attention device that sits on top of steering column.

Yes. That.
But DMO cam isn't a part of LKA. It's linked to active seat belts and pre-crash auto braking.

Interesting, had the alarm go off in LKA mode but never thought it was a part of safety, all cars have it? Emergency braking initiated the belts and one time and VSC where it literally avoided an accident when I was in a full slide at 65 on a snow covered road, straightened the car right up although it took about 30 seconds to trust me again to release the belts.

Pre-crash braking was a selling feature but most 10+ with DMO cam and full sensor suite (radar+cam) have it enabled from factory (as part of PreCrash Safety suite). Next step further was rear radar+active headrests, but that system is again near autonomous, relying on rear radar signals mostly.
The point of DMO cam actually is to initiate all that earlier (eyes closed or not looking straight) or later (you're looking straight, eyes open).

I have to admit, I've learned a Lot about the LKA system. Probably more than I bargained for. I sincerely thank those who responded to my question.
